Pleased with the progress made on the establishment of the Nairobi Metropolitan Police, an initiative that will place communities at the centre of policing through a framework that brings together residents, community leaders, the National Police Service, the county government and other stakeholders to jointly identify security priorities, strengthen oversight and develop local solutions through consultation and public participation. The roll-out of the Nairobi Metropolitan Policing Framework will commence in the coming days, laying the foundation for a more coordinated, accountable and community-led approach to policing across the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. Together, we will strengthen public safety, deepen trust between communities and law enforcement, and build safer and more secure neighbourhoods for all. Met officials from the Ministry of Interior led by Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, National Police Service leadership led by Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja, and the Nairobi County Government led by Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Flagged off the Harambee Starlets and Junior Starlets as they prepare to represent Kenya at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco at State House, Nairobi.

We are proud of their achievements and wish them every success as they represent our nation. Their success reflects deliberate investment in youth, talent development and sports.

More than 10,000 young athletes are enrolled in structured development programmes through our schools, county governments and the Kenya Academy of Sports.

More than 6,000 coaches, trainers, physiotherapists and sports administrators have also undergone specialised training.

Talanta Sports City is now 95 per cent complete, while 32 modern stadia are under construction across the country.

In the last financial year, the Government invested KSh4.5 billion to support our national teams with accommodation, kits, allowances and logistics. We will also ensure our national team players benefit from Social Health Authority cover and the Affordable Housing Programme.

This evening, I hosted leaders from Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties to discuss the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations to be co-hosted by the three counties in Eldoret City. Considering the symbolism of the occasion, I urged the leaders to involve all the stakeholders in preparation of the national event.

We are empowering young people to contribute to the transformation of our nation and become the architects of Kenya's future. Our investments in sports, the creative and digital economy, overseas employment, business support, affordable housing, and infrastructure development are creating millions of jobs and other opportunities for our young people. In sports alone, we are building and upgrading 34 stadia across the country to support talent development and expand opportunities for young people. These investments are already delivering results. Our athletes continue to win at the global stage while the Junior Harambee Starlets team has made history by qualifying for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup. Hosted Migori Youth FC, the 2025/26 National Super League champions, at State House Nairobi, and handed over a bus to enable the team travel for their league matches across the country. In Migori County, we are building a modern stadium to provide the team and the wider community with quality facilities for nurturing local talent.

We are working closely with the leaders of Northern Kenya to address the challenges facing the residents in an effort to accelerate the region's transformation. Our deliberate policies are ending decades of marginalisation by ensuring equitable development, expanding access to essential services and creating more economic opportunities for the people. Strategic initiatives such as the recently established National Infrastructure Fund will provide the resources necessary to invest in energy generation, water harvesting and storage, and irrigation to unlock the region's industrial and agricultural potential. At State House Nairobi, met leaders from Isiolo, Marsabit, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties. They were led by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Governors Ahmed Abdullahi (Wajir), Nathif Jama (Garissa), and Mohamed Khalif (Mandera).

We are immensely proud of our Junior Harambee Starlets for their historic qualification to the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Their outstanding victory over South Africa is a defining moment for Kenyan football and a powerful reminder that, as a nation, we can achieve whatever we set our minds on. This remarkable achievement brings Kenya one step closer to the dream of competing on the biggest stage in world football. Starlets have inspired a new generation of young sportsmen and women to pursue their ambitions with determination, knowing that no dream is beyond reach.
