@jaredcwilson Accurate and I hate it, since it ought to be: Email - No need to interrupt. Get to it in a day or so. Text - Need to interrupt, but don't need much of your attention. Call - Need to talk/need most of your attention now.

@charlescwcooke Right. Using " 's " to make Barrett plural? Automatic loss of argument.

“Is the sermon good?” asked Lucy. “Good?” said Mr. Preacher. “Who said anything about good? Of course it’s not good. But it’s done.”

Baseball is back! There is nothing quite like Opening Day for baseball. A celebration of the game’s return, optimism for your favorite club regardless of what the experts may be predicting and knowing that warm weather and summer months are close behind. Let’s play ball!

@TheStingisBack Men of a certain age know this is great cinema. "Flash, I love you but we only have 14 hours to save the earth" is not only great writing, it's never been topped.

Happy 80th Birthday, Timothy Dalton. Dalton’s potty‑mouthed Prince Barin in Flash Gordon (1980) delivered the first movie swears I ever heard, and he does it beautifully. Add Ornella Muti’s Princess Aura, and yeah, this film definitely nudged me onto the right path. Freeze you bloody bastards.

@bendreyfuss One might think religious Xians should be at 100%, atheists should be at 0% and agnostics should be 50%. Nope. People want to believe in an immaterial aspect of their life. I guess atheist does not equal materialist. I'd bet MANY of these believe their dog has a soul, too.

The agnostic result is the only result that actually sort of makes sense to me. They don’t know but believe in something maybe. Shouldn’t the religious people be at 100% and the atheists be at 0%?
Ryan Burge 📊@ryanburge

I find it fascinating how huge majorities of almost every group agrees that: People have a soul or spirit in addition to their physical bodies. Even 69% of agnostics agree with that. The huge outlier are atheists. Just one-third think that they have a soul.

@whatsupchase @CarterMcNeese 1. Literal/normal interpretation of scripture, including prophecy. 2. Maintained distinction between Israel/Church. 3. Doxological purpose of history. (Oh, and 4. Theological Liberalism.)

This is the fruit of dispensationalism. This is also something my very liberal OT professor might say. It’s time to acknowledge that dispensationalism is just a form of theological liberalism masquerading as biblicism.
Keith Mathison@KMathison1967

In my first class at Dallas Seminary (1990) the OT Prof told us: "If you preach a sermon from the OT, you should be able to preach that same sermon at any local synagogue w/out anyone raising an eyebrow." That's only possible if you don't preach Jesus. Paul raised eyebrows

@scottlincicome Or, and hear me out on this (I've lived a long time with it), it's just not that bad. In fact, it's a helpful indicator of people who are, you know, fine, and those who just can't even. Plus, telling the sun who's boss twice/yr is a great flex.

Hoover Institution@HooverInst

In December 2025, former US Senator @BenSasse announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. That's the primary topic for this @UncKnowledge conversation about mortality, faith, and what truly matters when time is short. Talking to host @P_M_Robinson, Sasse reflects on "redeeming the time"—holding ambition lightly, loving family more deliberately, and resisting the urge to make politics or professional success the center of life. The discussion also covers Sasse's thoughts on the failures of Congress; the dangers of a fragmented, attention-starved republic; the crisis of higher education; and the moral challenges of technological abundance. He speaks candidly and movingly about regret, forgiveness, prayer, and suffering—arguing that while death is a real enemy, it does not get the final word. Watch the full conversation on X:

Taking God’s name in vain is both a) using his name as a curse word and b) slapping his name on things to which he is opposed.

I feel like I’ve been pretty consistent over the years in arguing that 90% of race swap casting controversies are dumb. Dumb to get mad about Hank Azaria as Apu. Dumb to get mad about ScarJo in GHOST IN THE SHELL. And dumb to get mad about Lupita N’Yongo as Helen in THE ODYSSEY.

@drewdyck #1 is too progressive. #2? Who put Washington and Jefferson next to each other? #5 and #6 has to be too defensive on all sides, but for different reasons. So #3 and #4 are tied. But I'd go with #3 since it's the only one not sharing an armrest with a corpse.
