On Canada Day, I mourn the country that I used to love. For years I was celebrating it while others called the flag hateful; for years I valued this country while others demeaned it. Now the people who tore down statues of our PMs, changed the names of our institutions, said so-called Canada was genocidal; they are draped in the flag and continuing to destroy the country while cheering themselves on. Calling me a traitor. Hopeless is the best I can feel about Canada.
