@6lackMarvel @WNBAStormChaser Yup, the guard big combo is the foundation for all dynasties. And with the 2 year lottery record rule, teams can't easily tank and reset for 1 year, so either you find your foundation pieces now, or you rush things and end up always being mid
Plus Awa is genuinely special

@ForGoodAri @WNBAStormChaser I agree because Guard Big combo works to win titles. Plus this team isn't close to contending yet also people forget with 2 new teams coming in it make it even harder to make playoffs so long term processing is best to make sure a Paige led team can win multiple titles

@6lackMarvel @WNBAStormChaser (by in the league w her skills I mean ofc ceiling wise)
English

@6lackMarvel @WNBAStormChaser You're never winning anything serious without a real big, there's no one coming out in 2027 with Awa's potential (there's very few bigs in the league w her skills)
Not to mention the contender window is longer with Awa and Paige vs Paige and Azzi. Rushing would be a disaster

@DanGrigorian @NILnotNLI @alexaphilippou The women were only allowed to use "March Madness" branding beginning 2022. There's a lot of places where the women's committee seems incredibly incompetent.
English

@ForGoodAri @NILnotNLI @alexaphilippou Nice data pull. So the men's tournament previously must have been valued 100x more than that of the women's then... Interesting.

Geno Auriemma once again ripped the NCAA for its choices surrounding the women's basketball tournament, saying Saturday, "I just don't understand some of the decisions that are made about our game when we're trying to grow the goddamn game."

@WNBAStormChaser From the use of possession maxing and the length is one of these contributors The Ringer?
A lot of words without explaining who the Wings will fill in the front court with their lack of FA appeal, or how they'll succeed without a pnr partner - I hear that's a pretty common play?

@NILnotNLI @alexaphilippou The men are receiving 10-15x the investment but they aren't outdoing the women by that amount
However this isn't a men vs women's issue (there's also factors like more boys play/are fans of sports than girls etc). This is ab the incompetence by the NCAA on the women's side

English

@alexaphilippou If more people actually supported regular season Women's Basketball (instead of just talking about it) there wouldn't be this mess...
Over half of NCAA D1 programs averaged less than 990 fans a game this season.
Only around 30% averaged more than 1500 fans.
That's not support.

@sharkiowa @sportsfan6718 Iowa fan so let me expand - look at all the players in the portal and leaving high school and ask yourself why is Iowa not grabbing those athletes? Fans can buy all the tickets but where's the investment from the university?
English

@sharkiowa @sportsfan6718 UConn takes their women's team seriously and invests, and you think they're the problem? 😂

“I don’t give a damn when we play, where we play, who we play, bc we’ve done it and we still end up here. But I’m just telling you the student athletes experience sucks compared to the men’s experience”
