Excited to embark on another research project. We are looking at the impact of think-alouds on student learning/Teacher practice! Grateful so many teachers were interested in taking part. Nothing beats research with teachers to explore what works in actual classrooms!!

@Marina35690107 @FoodProfessor For example: eat with friends, prepare food at home, choose whole foods (less processed) etc etc - very helpful guidelines!

On the left, the “new” Canadian Food Guide was introduced on January 22, 2019 — seven years ago. Health Canada committed to revising it within five years, by 2024. That revision never happened. Meanwhile, the United States released a new food guide yesterday (on the right) — a complete overhaul that goes back to basics, free from ideological influence, and grounded in science, authenticity, culture, and realism. How refreshing. While Canada chose to frame the food industry as the enemy, the U.S. approach focuses on making the food system better — with clear targets on reducing sugar, sodium, and unnecessary additives.

@Marina35690107 @FoodProfessor It’s a multi page document with eating habits, recipes and extra info. I’ve read that. What am I missing? Thanks for contributing to the online discourse!!!! :-)

@FoodProfessor I read your post. I read the articles about the dairy industry and how they were “left out” of the food guide. I’ve never seen any one complain about the circle graph before. I do a side by side comparison in my health class every year and do a whole lesson on the changes.

@FoodProfessor When I worked PT as a produce clerk in high school my boss warned me to “check the label for country of origin” - it is infuriating that so much produce is mislabelled in grocery stores. @nofrillsCA @LoblawsON are the worst culprits

Another classic move from our grocers. These two photos below were taken within 24 hours at a Loblaw-owned store (Atlantic Superstore) by one of my readers. On the left: a proudly displayed Maple Leaf next to Navel oranges labeled “From Canada” — priced at $8 for 3 lbs. On the right: After management was alerted, the Maple Leaf disappeared… and the price dropped by 12.5%...

If dropping sanctions against Russia ends the war they started in Ukraine then let’s do it. But would that embolden Putin? What implications are there for Arctic sovereignty if Russia became a more powerful economy in the North?

The next federal election will see the “comeback” of the NDP to urban ridings… perhaps not so in “working class” ridings at the expense of Lib & CPC. Libs will take the majority of ridings at the expense of CPC in Ontario where CPC did very well this year. Two term Carney.

You can mock me in a few years if I'm wrong: @MarkJCarney defeated @PierrePoilievre mainly because of Trump. The next time they face off, Carney will defeat Poilievre because of himself. He's an adult.

Congrats to ALL candidates, and their teams, who put themselves forward for the 45th Canadian General Election! There were lots of surprises on all sides last night - and this morning. At the end of the day, everyone is striving to make Canada the best they can. #cdnpoli
