@JasonSolinsky @ryanswalters73 Do they serve on juries, get drafted, involuntarily, into our military. They can re-enter their native country, without restriction. They defy our laws, to enter and stay here; they are NOT completely under US jurisdiction, even if they can be punished for breaking some laws.

It’s so simple, only a complete moron, or TDS leftist, could possibly misunderstand it. A simple understanding of language, punctuation, and sentence structure helps too. Senator Jacob Howard of Michigan introduced the 14th amendment and said this: "This amendment which I have offered, is simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons."

@BoLoudon He's already scammed billions out of his position. Nobody else on the list can be said to have profited even a fraction as much during their time in office. Stealing billions and declining a few million is NOT an argument in favor.

There will be no red state secession or national divorce. One side is going to win and destroy the other as a political force. That’s how this is going to end, with one worldview being explicitly sanctioned by the state, and the other being criminalized. You can determine through your actions which worldview will meet which fate, but you cannot determine whether or not this is going to happen. It will. There is no pluralistic future that lies before us. No libertarian dream of permanent state neutrality where gay race communism gets to live side-by-side with traditionalism. One of these worldviews WILL triumph over the other.

It’s time for Donald Trump to put up or shut up. We will not get distracted by a few sore losers. My office is moving forward to provide a safe, secure, and accessible 2026 midterm election for every eligible Arizona voter.

@greggnunziata There ARE several unambiguous comments in the record about how various groups of immigrants would be made citizens by this law. People are debating the one ambiguous statement because they aren't genuinely interested in what Congress understood this amendment to mean.

This sentence can be read two ways, to different results. One comment in legislative history is hardly conclusive under any interpretative approach, especially a conservative one. And it's both dishonest and irresponsible to suggest he's just arguing against the far left.
Mike Lee@BasedMikeLee

The Fourteenth Amendment doesn’t say what the far left wishes it said Didn’t mean that then Still doesn’t mean that today

@ChristianHeiens I don't see that happening. In a best case scenario, MAGA will be beaten to a small core. But they are never going to admit that they were wrong. 20% of Americans are going to hold on to crazy claims of stolen elections and the like for a long time.

@ghoulie11 @ryanswalters73 Wrong again. Renouncing your existing citizenship does not protect you from being deported in the US. Neither I nor the birthright citizenship laws say "allegiance". You can't reason about the law if you substitute your preferred laws for what the actual language says.

@JasonSolinsky @ryanswalters73 I never said that they did. I said that they had to revoke their allegiances to all other sovereignties. Visitors and illegal immigrants don't do that, so they're subject to their country of origin. Which is why they can be deported.

@ghoulie11 @ryanswalters73 It is settled law that taking the oath does not renounce your existing citizenships and that US law has no prohibition against dual citizenship. If you are going to make legal claims despite your complete lack of expertise, is it too much to ask that you check google first?

The number of retard liberals who don’t understand the difference between absentee voting and the mass mail-out of ballots is staggering in its retardation. Let me break it down for the obvious head injury victims out there. Absentee voting: You actually have to request a ballot like a normal adult, usually with a legitimate reason (sick, traveling, whatever). It’s the old, sane way. Mail-in voting: They just mass-mail ballots to every name on the bloated voter rolls — dead people, movers, duplicates, illegals, you name it — no request, no excuse, no accountability. It’s the lazy Democrat cheat method that floods the system with unsecured paper and turns elections into a joke. Both involve mailing ballots, but one makes you prove you want to vote. The other treats voting like junk mail. That’s why ‘mass mail-out’ sounds shady as hell — because it is.

@ghoulie11 @ryanswalters73 What you say is wrong but also not relevant to my point. The US does not require your to renounce your existing citizenships as part of our naturalization process. US birthright citizenship does NOT depend on whether you are subject to the jurisdiction of other countries.

@vlad_mihalcea For the same reason that non-engineer software managers expected things to be done fast and "just work". It's human nature to diminish the difficulty of intellectual things done by others that we only kind of understand.

Why is it that software developers have higher expectations from AI and expect it to be always correct when the vast majority of software projects that were built without AI were of average quality?

@JasonSolinsky @ryanswalters73 So US citizens are subject to the jurisdiction of the US when they leave the US? Then that would mean that citizens of other countries are subject to the jurisdiction of the country they have citizenship even when in the territorial boundaries of the US. It goes both ways.
