@DOmowale How were they victims? Africans only kidnapped those in opposing tribes so they weren’t selling their “people”brothers” or “sisters”

The kingdoms and states which were involved in the slave trade were also victims of the slave trade as well. This is a great book which explores the reality that slave traders could often find themselves being captured and enslaved as well. During the period of the slave trade, there was heavy militarization in West Africa so that people could protect themselves from the wars and raids caused by the slave trade.

@DOmowale Ghana wasn't a victim of the slave trade, they were a perpetrator. The outrage is because Ghana is cosplaying as a victim to try to steal money that, if anything, should be going to actual victims. What Ghana is doing is similar to insurance fraud.

Ghana’s Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told the BBC’s Focus on Africa the Trump administration “missed a golden opportunity” by voting against a UN resolution recognising the transatlantic slave trade as the "gravest crime against humanity."

Shot out to Ghana for showing leadership on reparations. Ghana has consistently been at the forefront of Pan African progress and uplifting all black people.

@Nath_Yamb So much lack of respect for Black Americans he chose to go to America knowing most slaves went to the Caribbean. And I knew African governments loved brokering these exploitive deals with Europe, but I didn’t know Ghana was under the protection of the EU

Ghana successfully led the United Nations to officially recognize the transatlantic slave trade as the gravest crime against humanity in history. In a landmark vote, 123 nations affirmed this historic condemnation, while only three opposed and 27 abstained, marking a significant moment in the global reckoning with this dark chapter of human history.

An African American woman strongly defended Ghana in a heated exchange with a group of protesters demonstrating against President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal for a UN resolution to recognize transatlantic slavery as the “gravest crime against humanity.” During the verbal altercation, one of the protesters who took the video made unsubstantiated claims that Ghana was complicit in the slave trade and portrayed the country as an unsafe destination for African Americans, alleging that discrimination remains prevalent.
