Being around successful people does something to your brain. We bought our house in a starter home neighborhood 6 years ago for $185k . My mortgage is $1,200/mo And while it's been great for our personal finances, I think it's been terrible for my ambition. No one on my street seems to be working on anything big. Seems like everyone is just punching the clock. Content with how things are going and not interested in changing or growing. "Keeping up with the Jones'" absolutely has it's drawbacks. But it also keeps you hungry. If you can be inspired without becoming materialistic, I think you should be in a neighborhood with people who inspire you to dream bigger and make moves.

Late night thoughts #18 Sadly my biggest problem in life will always be my income. I love my job as a pe teacher. but my income sets me back so much in my investing journey. Everytime I meet up with friends from college I get very self conscious about it. I’ve been very stressed about it lately and aren’t sure what to do.
