Agree 100 percent with @michaelshermer. Reading and writing are deeper levels of cognition than talking and the back and forth of serious written work yields a far deeper level of discourse than mere yapping.

Agreed @beechchap It is difficult to get people to read entire books whereas they will listen to an hour or two podcast. My point: if you want to be taken seriously as a thinker you ALSO need to publish your ideas in peer-reviewed articles, books, essays, etc.

Jeff Blehar is *BOX OFFICE POISON*
Fun Paul Ehrlich fact: He didn't want to personally sign the check to Julian Simon to pay off his infamous lost bet about resource prices. So he made *his wife* stroke the check.

@PaulCaf To be fair, I parented my first couple of kids like it was the 90s because it was the 90s.

Why are there so many granola / parent your kids like it's the 90's Instagram accounts -- do they have no sense of irony??

1/ An uncomfortable truth: Even the best crypto product in the world will lose to an inferior product with a better sales team. Too many technical founders refuse to accept this until it's too late.

The best technology doesn't always win in the enterprise. The reason isn't technical. It’s organizational. For years, we've had tech that could improve financial rails 10×+. Most of it never got adopted. Enterprises buy the least disruptive path to progress.  Failure inside large institutions is asymmetric. Missed upside is invisible. Visible mistakes aren't. Before your product reaches a buyer, it's often filtered through consultants whose job is to make decisions defensible. Your technical champion isn't your customer. Legal, compliance, risk, and finance have quiet veto power. Winning a pilot ≠ winning adoption. Everybody's hedging. The goal is to become the hedge they scale. There’s endless examples of romanticism about the city, and about romanticizing the country. What’s the best art that romanticizes the suburbs?
