NEW: Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who says he is not religious, says he broke down in tears when he saw the Cross after getting back to Earth. Wiseman: "I'm not really a religious person, but there was just no other avenue for me to explain anything..." Victor Glover: "The only thing I would add is I am a religious person, but everything else is the same."

This dude’s “Now that we are saved by faith” does not exist in the entire corpus of the NT text. The saints of God were 100% always saved by faith, the blood of Christ being the mechanism both past and future, not time-bound, because Jesus is not time-bound. Secondly the book of Acts is a terrible place to bolster this doctrine of “no longer being obligated to follow the laws of the OT”. We see the apostles doing the exact opposite, keeping sabbath (85 times actually in Acts alone), keeping the feasts, giving sacrifices at the temple, etc all three decades after Jesus resurrection. Acts 15:21 is a verse that says all new gentile believers will hear the law every sabbath - a verse that shows the laws will be learned, just start with the four presented earlier in Acts 15. That’s no different than new believers today - stop doing drugs, porn, witchcraft etc and you’ll learn as you come to church every Sunday. This pastor, while I believe he’s a brother in the Lord, has lazy theology.

@EYakoby Only offensive in the sense that God’s image bearers can be so willfully ignorant. The level of pity I have on these individuals is wildly abundant. My only ask is they stop making others so dumb.

Did you know that Matthew 18:15-17 is found in Torah? Torah says to rebuke your neighbor (Lev. 19:17), and all matters must be established by at least two witnesses (Deut. 19:15).

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

The Talmud basically says “yeah nothing supernatural in our religion worked anymore after Jesus died for some reason” and then Jews still deny Christ’s divinity.

@AmyScot628692 @TChapman500 You literally can put this in GPT or grok. But my favorite NT verse that shows this is possible is Luke 1:6 "And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord."

God explicitly stated that we are capable of keeping his law. Man explicitly stated that we are incapable of keeping God's law. Who's telling the truth?

@Be_Like_JChrist And yet, here we are with your post being opposite of what scripture is clear about.

And I have plenty of scriptures to back up my theology, not just a testimony. Scriptures that prove that Christ comes to deliver us from sin. Not to challenge us to fix our sin problem ourselves. Multiple scriptures from multiple books and multiple authors. Including Jesus himself. All declaring that the New Testament and gospel are about God, changing us from the inside. Not just forgiving us and asking us to change.

My testimony is not tied to my feelings. But absolute and total deliverance from the bondage of sin. Sin that plugged me for years. Gaining the simplicity to say no, when before I only wished I could say no. It is actually disingenuous of you to jump to the immediate position that my testimony must be feeling based. You did that to justify your position, not because you sought to be generous or kind to mine.

Let’s test that: • Your testimony being tied to your feelings • Theology offered having provided 3 examples of scripture in plain reading that are diametrically opposed to your position Brother I’m being gentile with you, offering correction with plain reading of text “repentance for the forgiveness of sins” and you’re fighting it based on your testimony? It’s just backwards.

@Trade_Image What you actually mean is your theology over scripture and testimony. You know exactly that that is what I was talking about. Your theology is not equal to scripture.

@Be_Like_JChrist Definitely a fringe view. Scripture literally calls them “the house of judah/Israel”. That’s a body of people/nation. No one subscribes to that view brother.

@Trade_Image And you find out later through the profits that the Israel they’re talking about is Jesus. The Judah they’re talking about is Jesus. The new covenant is made with Jesus. He is Israel. I gain access because I put faith in him. This is the blood of the new covenant.

If you’re following Paul’s instruction to cast away Mount Sinai (cast out the 10 Commandments), Then how do you ensure that your behavior looks like Jesus? The answer is simple. The only reason you act crazy is because you’re chasing love, value, significance, respect. If you get those from God, your behavior will change radically without you having to try. This is why the new covenant is superior. Jesus accomplishes on your behalf, the very thing that the old covenant failed at. John 8:34,36 NKJV Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. [36] Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

@Be_Like_JChrist “The new covenant is written to an entirely different people.” Jeremiah 31:31-33 whole heartedly disagrees with this as the new covenant was explicitly made with Judah and Israel.

I don’t disagree that the law is holy. As I already stated the standard is not the problem. The problem is the method. The law was written to a group of people in rebellion against God, who did not have the capacity to be Holy. The new covenant is written to an entirely different people. People who have chosen God by their own volition. And God has changed their inward man. The method of the law does not apply to such people. Because it was given to those in rebellion to bring condemnation. Now the method is Holy Spirit. Now the standard is Jesus, and that standard is greater.

Luke 24:47 NKJV and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Notice something different about this translation The difference is in the Greek word definition. Forgiveness is a weak definition. release from bondage or imprisonment freedom; (figuratively) pardon: - deliverance forgiveness liberty remission God is not asking us to turn away from our sin so that He can forgive us. He’s asking us to turn to Him so that He can deliver us. In this distinction is actually the difference between the two covenants.
