On Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami, again. I watched Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami’s interview on TVC. I completely agree with a friend who said that the Sheikh is overcommunicating about his aspiration to become an APC gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State. I will outline four reasons. 1. He said that as DG of NITDA and as a minister of Communication and Digital Economy, he secured 750 jobs for his people and executed projects in all local government areas in Gombe. Is this fair to other states and their people? 2. He admitted that he had to charter a flight from Abuja to Gombe to attend an APC meeting because he received late notice and could not travel by road due to some issues. 3. He said he personally gave the APC Gombe branch 50 million naira to attend a party convention. His team, whatever that may be, also gave the party an additional 45 million to attend yet another exercise in Abuja. He calls himself one of the “major sponsors of the party” in Gombe. 4. Sheikh proudly describes himself as a party leader, noting that even President Tinubu referred to him as such during the 2023 election campaign, thanks to the significant role he played in the merger of the CPC and ACN parties. I expect some harsh responses to this post. However, people who read to understand can see the risks posed by the above revelations. I am particularly concerned about his standing as a renowned religious scholar. Moreover, he stands to lose many admirers. I used to believe the Sheikh was not a politician like the rest of them, and so, once upon a time, I defended him. I thought his midnight prayer against the PDP was borne of concern for the calamity the party had brought upon us. Alas, it was for another reason. May Allah (SWT) guide us, amin. Muhsin
