Not nearly enough people are talking about the implications of Klarna rolling back some of their AI bets. Not knowing any of the details, I can guess why: Replacing determinism or humans with probabilistic code is fraught with edge cases and require new ways of software development and process engineering that aren't well solved yet. The implications to an entire generation of AI "apps" will be severe as more companies come to terms with the difficulty in getting products to work reliably in production with AI in the loop. Customer Service may be the first funeral signpost. The result will be that many startups will need to pivot to simply use AI for narrow use cases and otherwise act deterministically. So what have people funded then? An AI company? Not really. Just a really overpriced SaaS company at AI valuations.

My team posted a job and I got 13 LinkedIn connections, 20+ cold emails, 5 website contact form submissions, and two cold WhatsApp messages in 24 hours. Not including the standard submissions.

One surprising thing I'm hearing from startup founders and eng managers hiring software engineers: Posting jobs on LinkedIn is basically useless, because all they get is junk applications. Like hundreds of clearly not qualified inbounds / seemingly AI-generated profiles

My advice to foreign leaders is that if you have not already reached out to President @realDonaldTrump, you need to do so immediately. Trump is, at his core, a dealmaker who sees the world as a series of transactions. Based on his track record to date with foreign governments, law firms, and universities, he is a tough, but fair negotiator. He loves to make deals and he loves to get things done promptly. I expect Trump will reward the early dealmakers with fairer deals than those that wait to sit down at the negotiating table. Countries that respond with additional tariffs on our goods will be severely punished. The carrot and the stick writ large, Big Boy style. The Art of the Deal will soon be sold out on @amazon. But if you are running a foreign country that is now subject to massive tariffs, don't wait to read the book. Just pick up the phone. Call the President, and make a deal. Just some advice from a friend of the global economy.

Breaking: Wall Street execs who have been dealing with The White House and President Trump himself say they are being told the goal of the new tariff regime will be to cut reciprocal deals to lower tariffs w trading partners. Still they have cautioned the White House that the short term economic signals are not good; business spending is grinding to halt and price elevation on goods is already happening as markets price in how trade partners react and before deals can be cut. They are warning about stagflation and that markets will remain extremely volatile. That said, if these trade deals can be reached and both sides begin lowering not just tariffs but trade barriers the effect will be a long term positive for markets and the economy. They told the White Hiuse that getting there will be extremely messy and it will represent the biggest political challenge of his presidency, making the DOGE contretemps look like a walk in the part. At the same time my sources say the trade dealings with China will heavily involve two interesting and additional variables: @tiktok_us and the @BlackRock deal to buy the ports from the China based CK Hutchison. Trump needs Xi’s buy in for both and he will be willing to play ball on China tariffs to do so, I am told by these people. As of now, what’s still unclear is size of how tariffs Trump will unveil (anywhere from 15 per to 25 per) but the workaround is key and I am told there will be workarounds. One problem the White House has and this is key: The tariffs could really crush his base ie farmers and the sale of US nat gas. We are going to get short term inflation and an economic slowdown, Wall Street execs are telling the White House that could appear in second quarter numbers. Story developing

Wondering which AI model will win is like going back to 2000 and wondering which ISP will win. It really doesn't matter to you unless you're in that arena. Otherwise, just focus on solving customer problems.

Excited to finally announce our partnership with the @HolySee to bring you one of the most phenomenal artistic endeavors in recent memory: Vatican Museum: America The partnership represents a massive expansion for the Vatican Museums and Monumental Labs. To seed the collection, Monumental Labs will replicate 1,600 sculptures from the Vatican collection (using a mix of robots and human craftsmen) right here in America, for America. Excited to share more soon.

@xAI has acquired @X in an all-stock transaction. The combination values xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion ($45B less $12B debt). Since its founding two years ago, xAI has rapidly become one of the leading AI labs in the world, building models and data centers at unprecedented speed and scale. X is the digital town square where more than 600M active users go to find the real-time source of ground truth and, in the last two years, has been transformed into one of the most efficient companies in the world, positioning it to deliver scalable future growth. xAI and X’s futures are intertwined. Today, we officially take the step to combine the data, models, compute, distribution and talent. This combination will unlock immense potential by blending xAI’s advanced AI capability and expertise with X’s massive reach. The combined company will deliver smarter, more meaningful experiences to billions of people while staying true to our core mission of seeking truth and advancing knowledge. This will allow us to build a platform that doesn’t just reflect the world but actively accelerates human progress. I would like to recognize the hardcore dedication of everyone at xAI and X that has brought us to this point. This is just the beginning. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
