Both are tied to the country’s 250th anniversary, just through different structures. It’s fair to prefer one over the other, but reducing one to ‘real America’ and the other to ‘just about one person’ skips over the fact that a lot of people may simply see both as ways to mark the anniversary.

As an Australian, I’m genuinely confused by artists refusing to perform at America’s 250th celebration. This is a once-in-250-years opportunity to celebrate the country, its history, and the people who helped make these artists wildly successful. Walking away because the event might be seen as political only makes it more political makes zero sense to me.🤔 To me, this should be bigger than personal politics. It should be about celebrating America and the people who supported these artists every step of the way.
