@MarkVipond Number of reform seats is secondary. The size of the vote allows reform to influence the direction of travel for what’s left of the Tories. To get those voters back a true centre right party is needed with Nigel playing a major role. So every vote for Reform is a vote for change.

@PippaCrerar @IsraeliNat Totally unbelievable from No 10. Starmer had on multiple occasions said Mandleson passed vetting. So either Starmer was lying about the vetting. Or lying that he had the information. Either way its misleading both parliament and the public. He cannot stay

Downing Street says neither the PM or the then foreign secretary David Lammy knew that Peter Mandelson failed security vetting to be US ambassador till a few days ago. Sources say they are incandescent that they were not told. The clear implication is that the permanent under secretary at the foreign office Olly Robbins over-ruled the vetting recommendation and never told ministers. If that is right, and no official is denying that, it is impossible to see how he keeps his job

@PolitlcsUK @guardian The Prime Minister specifically told the House that Mandelson had been properly vetted in accordance with normal procedures. Keir Starmer misled the House. That's a resigning matter. Nothing less will do.

Thursday By Election 🗳️ Dee North candidate for Reform UK standing in today’s (16 April 2026) Narborough & Whetstone by-election for Leicestershire County Council. Statement from Dee I am standing in this by-election because I believe our community deserves a councillor who will listen to residents, stand up for local priorities and work hard to deliver practical solutions. I have lived and worked professionally in the local area for many years and have strong personal ties to Narborough, Littlethorpe and Whetstone. My family and I live locally and I support ageing relatives in the area, which means the future of our community matters deeply to me. My professional background as a consultant has focused on solving problems and delivering results. I have also served locally as a volunteer for the community, a parish councillor and school governor, giving me valuable experience of how local government works and how important strong representation is for local communities. County councillors make important decisions about roads, flood management, education, social care and local services - decisions that affect every household in our villages. If elected, I will focus on three key priorities that residents consistently raise. 1Safer Roads and Better Infrastructure 2Responsible Development, Flood Prevention and Accountability 3Protecting Local Services and Supporting Our Community If elected as your County Councillor, I will: ✔ Listen – regularly speak with residents and understand local concerns
✔ Act – work constructively to deliver practical solutions
✔ Represent – ensure Narborough, Littlethorpe and Whetstone have a strong voice at County Hall Vote for Dee @reformparty_uk

@Conservatives No ifs or buts - Reform lied to voters at last year's council elections. It's a party every inch as dishonest as Starmer's Labour. Stop letting these mendacious politicians lie to you and treat you like mugs.

Reform supporters, take note: Because the majority of us understand and concern ourselves with local issues at local elections, not one of these priorities is "Get Starmer Out". We're voting for better roads, improved services, lower council tax at next month's elections. And Reform are offering none of these things.
Jack Elsom@JackElsom

When it comes to voter local priorities, all roads lead to roads... (As covered on the front of today's Sun!)

A lot of people saying they would never vote for Nigel Farage as they don't trust him, presumably once trusted the Tories or the Labour party whom have both proven to be untrustworthy, Nigel has never been in government (yet) to be proven either way so I don't understand the logic
