‘Illegal immigrants’ aka people! How utterly intimidating & triggering for those inside the Marine Court hotel. This is so far from how I want people seeking refuge, many who have been through so much adversity in their lives, to be treated.

Impromptu and somewhat dramatic moment as a call goes up from the crowd to march to the Marine Court hotel which houses illegal immigrants. I’ve never seen anything like this in Bangor. These are decent ordinary who have brought the town to a standstill.

Today was extraordinary. I’ve never seen such a spontaneous & unorganised uprising of ordinary decent people in Bangor. These people aren’t “far right thugs” or “racists”. They are the salt of the earth. Hardworking, kind people from good families. They’ve just had enough🇬🇧

I was deeply saddened to hear about the deaths of two @Tearfund staff near Butembo in the DRC yesterday.
Tearfund works tirelessly around the world for the most vulnerable in society.
I utterly condemn attacks on humanitarian aid organisations and their people. Please join me in praying for the grieving families and colleagues at this terrible time.

One thought - not sure 'ex-vangelical' is the best term to use, as it's a bit negative and can imply 'ex-Christian'.
'Post-evangelical' may be preferable - ppl moved on from evangelical beliefs but not necessarily Xn faith! It's a more generous label.
