amigos que trabalham com dados, econometria, métodos quantitativos: para alguém que vem da ciência política e tem pós-graduação lato sensu em estatística e em ciência de dados, vocês acham que é necessária uma graduação em estatística? alguma opinião mais forte sobre?

🗣️Professional news: I have joined the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ) as an Assistant Professor of Methods! I am delighted about this new stage in my career and excited about the challenges ahead. I hope I can continue to have the support of so many amazing people.

Great work! Suggestions: (1) natural experiments are rarely experiments; (2) FEs are often used to adjust for unobservables, instead of SOO; same with event studies (ES); (3) ES-FE-DID are closely related.

What's the current status of causal inference in political science? Since the advent of the credibility revolution social scientists pay more attention to establishing cause-and-effect relationships. But how has poli sci responded to the new methods and trends? (1/n)

Wrapping up my first year as a PhD student: countless problem sets, term papers, and final exams! On top of meeting and working with excellent people in a great environment, I also have some exciting stuff happening:

Finally, I am excited to be the recipient of an ICPSR scholarship and funding for an experiment! Looking forward to (some rest) and the coming year!

Three papers coming up: one on support for regimes and democratic deconsolidation; two others with @laurabegc on party-sponsored protests and democracy + one on measurement and non unimodal distributions.
