Success requires no apologies. Failure permits no alibis. Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage.

@Timothythapelo1 We need a govt/city owned transportation where every driver reports to and knocks off from work at certain times. The drivers have fixed salaries, dress code, annual leave days. A fixed timetable for the buses, and all they have to do is to transport the masses, full or not.

Tota we have private transportation in our country it will only be public transportation once government owns it. I think it’s time government owns public transportation in Botswana.

@wabpan Why is there no minister there? Is it not also a failure of governance to provide leadership with full authority?

Dr Dikoloti must resign or be fired with immediate effect! How can Foot & Mouth easily enter a bio zone such as Ramatlabama A.I. Centre? Utterly disgraceful!

@SavvyMav3rick @dumaboko That’s a good one. Our public transport needs to be wheelchair accessible. The same applies to most offices. Inclusivity.

My President @DumaBoko, as the UDC works to address social inequality, would you consider implementing a public transport subsidy? Affordable or even free rides for students, young mothers, the elderly, and vulnerable citizens could make a world of difference. A well-managed public transit system could connect communities, help students get to school safely, and support families who need it most. Subsidized fares would promote mobility, reduce poverty, and give more people access to essential services. Let’s make Botswana’s public transport a public good that benefits all. #UDC2024 #BotswanaEquality #PublicTransportForAll

🔸On the 1st of November, I spoke on the phone with Duma Boko to congratulate him on an outstanding victory in Botswana’s elections. My voice crackled as we spoke. Anyone who has fought in the trenches for change knows how deep and dark the journey can sometimes feel. You fall down often. You fail more times than you succeed. At times, you give everything and it feels like you yield nothing – until change comes. I thanked him for his inspiration and for reminding us of what is possible. For Botswana, the old was dying and the new was being born. I landed in the beautiful city of Gaborone early on Inauguration Day. Ordinary people at the airport and beyond were excited. The animated chatter of people who had sown seeds of change at the ballot and were now headed to the stadium to reap the rewards of their hard work filled the air. It was the best of times and it was the best of times. Upon arriving at the stadium, I saw the towering frame of Ian Khama and immediately had a flashback to the Mugabe days. Khama had been the only African leader bold enough to openly criticize Mugabe’s poor governance that had caused immense suffering among Zimbabweans. I considered walking up to him to say thank you but chose instead to take in the moment and reflect on what it would take for Zimbabwe to emerge from its own deep, dark trench and feel the same happy hope that flooded the stadium. Former leaders Festus Mogae and Mokgweetsi Masisi were also present. No coup. No election violence. No regional intervention. Watching the change of guard unfold before my eyes, I turned to the person sat next to me and said, “I hope you know just how lucky you are to live in a democracy where the will of the people is respected and passion for country trumps the love of power. The sky was overcast as the clouds felt pregnant with rain. President Boko delivered his moving “That’s my boy” speech where he told the people that it has taken a village, if not villages, to raise him and he now wants the people to look at him and say “that’s my boy.” It was a reminder to the population that he was one of them and would be their advocate as he took the mantle of state power. The crowd repeatedly chanted “Pula!” Pula means "rain" or "blessing" because rain is so scarce in Botswana and is considered valuable – just as valuable as the stable democracy that has become embedded in the fabric of this blessed nation. What I felt and experienced as I witnessed this seamless transfer of power will stay with me for a long time as I await the day when Zimbabwe can say, “Dumelang democracy.”🇿🇼

An idea may start with one man, if we all act on it, together we can do so much for our country. Let’s give our best, even to what may seemingly look like small tasks. Let’s get to work! 🇧🇼 #BWElections2024

When President @duma_boko said “I dare not fail, I dare not disappoint,” this should be a mantra to all Batswana. When you get up to go to work, say it to yourself “I dare not be late, I dare not fail, I dare not disappoint” in whatever your individual or collective pursuits.
