The NSE Is More Concentrated Than Most Investors Realize 📊 The Nairobi Securities Exchange currently has a total market capitalization of about KES 3.4 trillion. But here’s the striking part: *Just 9 companies control over 83% of the entire market. 📊 The Biggest Companies on the NSE 1️⃣ Safaricom PLC – 37.24% of market cap 2️⃣ Equity Group Holdings – 8.53% 3️⃣ KCB Group – 7.55% 4️⃣ East African Breweries – 6.14% 5️⃣ Co-operative Bank of Kenya – 5.34% 6️⃣ Absa Bank Kenya – 4.97% 7️⃣ NCBA Group – 4.40% 8️⃣ Standard Chartered Bank Kenya – 3.90% 9️⃣ Stanbic Holdings – 3.06% Combined, these nine companies account for 83.37% of the entire market value. 🏦 A Banking-Dominated Market Out of the top 9 companies, 7 are banks. The only non-banking giants are: • Safaricom PLC • East African Breweries This means Kenya’s stock market performance is heavily tied to the banking sector. 📉 What This Means for Investors Market concentration creates three realities: 1️⃣ Index performance depends on a few stocks 2️⃣ If banks rally, the market rallies 3️⃣ If Safaricom moves, the entire index moves In other words: The NSE is less of a broad market and more of a “large-cap driven market.” 📌 Key insight: If you own the top 9 stocks, you already control exposure to over 80% of the entire NSE market value.

If your father or mother is above 67, please pause and read this slowly. At that age, life begins to feel different for them. The world moves faster, but their bodies move slower. The things they once did effortlessly now require effort. Their strength is not what it used to be, and even if they don’t say it, they feel it. What they need now is not pressure. Not stress. Not arguments about money or past mistakes. They need stability. They need reassurance. They need to feel safe. If they have savings, protect it. This is not the stage for risky investments or “let’s try this opportunity.” It is the stage for preservation. Capital safety matters more than high returns. Peace of mind matters more than profit. If they depend on you financially, don’t see it as a burden. See it as a privilege. The same hands that once carried you are now weaker. The same voices that defended you now speak softer. Support them with dignity, not pity. And beyond money, give them something deeper. Call them without being in a hurry. Sit with them without checking your phone every two minutes. Let them repeat stories you’ve heard before. One day, you will wish to hear those stories again. At 67 and above, what they truly fear is not death. It is loneliness. It is feeling forgotten. Take care of their health. Help them organize their documents. Make sure they are not being financially manipulated. Protect them from stress. But most importantly, protect their heart. Because one day, the chair they sit on will be empty. And no amount of money will buy back one more conversation.

Uhuru Kenyatta wants the Odingas to be as irrelevant in Luo politics as the Kenyattas have become in Kikuyu politics. I am not surprised they have picked on the naive and politically illiterate Winnie Amolo to launch this doomed voyage. What they still do not know is that the relationship between Luos and the Odingas does not proceed in some monarchical arrangement. Raila Odinga was never a KING of the Luo so there was never a CROWN. These idiotic assumptions have been pumped in Winnie’s head that she now believes she’s some heir-apparent who’s being denied the natural ascendancy that the Lord himself ordained through sperm counts. Uhuru failed to make Raila president despite the FIVE years Raila backed him through high taxation, corruption, incompetence and impunity. The attempt by Uhuru and his GEMA groupies to use Luos as canon fodder for state bullets, while shielding his people, will not succeed. Winnie used to come to protests driving fuel guzzlers and wearing bullet proof vests. The rest of us came wearing second hand mitumba clothing. It will be a long time to return the Luo to the streets.

Dear parents : Don’t sign up your sons for our program!! Our program is rough, tough and traumatic. In the 10 days your son will spend with us, he will be shouted at, he will wake up at 04 am to jog in the dark, he will carry his back-bag with 40kgs on his back for 17 kms, he will be made to roll in the mud, he will fall and kneel on stones, he will get wounds all over and that’s not all. When he arrives late for an activity, he will come kneeling, when he refuses to shower, he will be forced to shower in the middle of the road at 1am in the night. In that camp, He will have his own tent ⛺️ and if he fails to keep it clean, we will dislodge it so he can sleep in the grass. When he steals another person’s property, he will be punished. Our camp is not good for your boy. Don’t bring him. He will be made to participate in difficult drills rain or sunshine. In our camp, we force boys to respect their parents. We rebuke boys who are disobedient. We rebuke girly tendencies. We indoctrinate them against homosexuality and gay tendencies. Everything is tough in this camp. It’s “traumatic” as idiots call it. When he’s shy , he will be forced to be bolden up. I don’t want ur son in our camp. Look for camps that are soft. Where they don’t shout at kids. Where they carry them around on the back. Where the kids talk back to their instructors and they smile. Look for those camps.

A UNEP salary of 2.5 million per month, five official cars, four GSU officers for your security, a diplomatic passport and a big office with seating allowances totaling 1.2 million per year — even if you sit in the toilet — is a serious temptation. Release the ODM registration certificate now!
