This news from @BloombergAsia that Aung San Suu Kyi has been released may turn out to be wishful thinking. According to Myanmar media, a pardon by the junta refers to only five convictions. However, the deposed de facto leader still has several additional sentences to serve.

JUST IN: Thailand's government confirms a meeting between Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been detained in #Myanmar since the military coup: "She was in good health both physically and mentally." The meeting took place on Sunday.

.@Pita_MFP and his Move Forward party won the General Election and, together with his coalition partners, has a majority in the lower house. But this is not enough in Thailand to become Prime Minister: A big chunk of military-appointed Senators has to agree as well. A big hurdle.

Next week, Thailand's National Assembly will convene to elect a new Prime Minister. Today, progressive frontrunner @Pita_MFP and his supporters are gathering in front of a shopping mall in #Bangkok to show strength. Despite the rain, many showed up.
