A handful of lawmakers in a few states have proposed mostly symbolic measures, many of which failed.. Those aren’t the same thing and it’s a small minority that won’t get anywhere. So it’s not ‘republicans’ it’s a few.

Several states have had legislation proposed this year that would ban ga marriage - Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee. If you don’t see it happening it’s because you don’t want to.
