@ChShersh In your bubble, maybe it's true. But some people can't build any useful app without a database and related concepts. There are other concepts to consider as well.

If you can't build an entire app using just 🔰 Recursion 🔰 Immutable data 🔰 Records 🔰 Algebraic Data Types 🔰 Pattern Matching 🔰 Higher-Order Functions 🔰 Parametric Polymorphism Are you even a Software Engineer?

Cutting corners does not mean cutting quality, it means cutting features.

@unclebobmartin Who defines "well"? If your and your boss's definitions differ too much, you are in a dangerous situation. And your advice nowhere gives a piece of good advice.

If you accept the premise that the only way to go fast is to go well, then how can you be incentivized to make a mess? What can your boss demand if you to make you lower the quality of your code?

Can you sponsor Protesilaos? lnkd.in/eHqJiUJs Could you give him a remote job? In some ways, Protesilaos has proven his exceptional worth in creating some cool Emacs packages.

@douwevandermeij @unclebobmartin If I am a fat blob with only skills in programming, where will I find another job? Being a code perfectionist will not help me to find another job. But being able to keep my mouth shut can go a long way.

Programmers must never offer the option of bad code to managers who demand speed. Nobody goes faster when slogging through a mess. Messes slow everyone, and everything forever.

@unclebobmartin You don't live in the real world. Programmers who offered bad code got starry reviews. The naive programmer who listens to your advice got fired. The recruiters, after hearing his story, yell: "More humility! You barely have 3 years of experience, and you act as if you had 15!"

@Linux_Mint do you know how to diagnose and solve login problems after new installation of Linux Mint 21. My password is correct, I can change it in the recovery console, but can not login to desktop.
