For all the frustration that’s come with watching him the last 2-3 years he’s still Pep’s most important player because he understands Pep the best. He’s the most intelligent* player in this regard because no matter the matchup or strategy for each match Pep can tell him what the plan is and he’ll understand it completely. The build up, the pressing, pinning teams in the final 3rd. Even when the execution is wavering like it has been the past few years, he’s still Guardiola’s best tactical tool.

Teta’s plan in cup games is clearly to push in 0’-25’ and 65’-FT - but it doesn’t work, especially with a keeper and CB that aren’t comfortable circulating. everything else looking janky flows downstream from that

people were shocked that we didn’t give him more minutes early in the season. got a run of games and we’re staring down the barrel of losing him for the run-in. really sad stuff
