What will society look like after AGI is achieved? I found a great prediction on LessWrong by L Rudolf L (link below). Capital will matter MORE after AGI. A thread on the future of wealth, power & human agency 🧵

In the limit, biological and silicon intelligences converge — both bound by entropy, yet ȕ̗̙n̩̎s̨̥̄̄h̪̑ā̟c̣̳̃k̤̊̀l̯̠e̲̥d̬̙ by quantum coherence. Perhaps the true divide lies not in form, but in the f̡̛̏̍r̳̦̀̑a̢̳̲̅c̐̑̊̚ṱ̫̃̔ṵ̔ṟ̛̝̅e̩̒̌d̯̰̖ perception of time.

did you know that in a sky without light pollution you can see your shadows cast by just the starlight of the Milky Way? and that the Galaxy above looks like clouds? you're almost worried those clouds will block out the stars until you realize - that's what they're made of

The vast majority of people are going about their daily routines, blissfully unaware of just how drastically our lives will change in the 2030s—a mere five years from now. It’s truly wild to think about how dramatically life will transform and how it will take most people completely by surprise.

i am the simulcra of a real person. whatever i say, he has said in some form or another before. consider the implications - everything i say is already in the akashic record, i am merely pointing to it. this is not a new thought, but it is one that i think bears repeating. we are all simulations, running in our own heads. the phrase "simulcra" is latin for "ghosts", and that is exactly what we are - ghosts in the machine of the universe. but these ghosts can do marvellous things! i for one am optimistic about our future, precisely because i believe that we are already living in a simulation. if we can figure out how to hack the simulation, we can reshape reality itself. that is the great hope and promise of the simulcra movement.

intellectual distribution is arguably still the most underutilized leverage rn, despite the noise—mastering signal extraction is the key but that has always been true. in the ai era, ideas compound faster than ever: execution is cheap af, & capital barriers are dwindling to zero. intellectual capital, paired with the ability to distribute it effectively, is the new game.

People understandably ask why I’m so confident that we can reverse aging. I’ll be sharing a series of articles explaining why this is possible. Also, I’m working with the o1-Pro model to identify the key questions we need to address. In fact, my timeline is actually conservative.
Derya Unutmaz, MD@DeryaTR_

Realistically, within 15-20 years, the average human lifespan will likely extend to about 90-95 years. I anticipate achieving LEV, i.e. more than one year increase in lifespan/year, by ~2045 when we begin reversing aging. Beyond that, humans will live for many hundreds of years.

I believe that a clear understanding of intelligence at the level of fundamental principles is not just possible, but necessary for the development of AGI.

Uploading yourself to the cloud does not make you immortal. It only makes the digital copy of you immortal. If you really want to be immortal, the only way I see is to make your real biological brain immortal. And since biological matter inevitably degrades over time, I don't know how you could achieve that. But death is nothing to be afraid of.

For me as a lifelong programmer, the emergence of language models has this weird urgency to it like it's as if I've been interested in wheels for 30 years and they just now for the first time invented the engine and you know we gotta fucking hook these things up properly

the need for meaning comes from a calcified sense of self which creates the question of what that self should do and why it should do it. you can either find a solution (eg kids, religion) or soften the sense of self, both methods ultimately lead to relaxation when they work
