7.5 million Jewish-Americans have a vice-like grip on Washington, Silicon Valley & Hollywood. #AIPAC, the wealthiest & most feared US-Israel lobbying group, funds US Senators. In contrast 5 million NRIs have no influence on US policy-making. My @firstpost column explains why

I think this is India point of view and obviously ignores the entire history of the two communities. The Jewish community in the US has been here for over a century. Even before WW2. In fact, the legacy admissions at universities like Yale and Harvard were introduce to limit Jewish student enrollment purely based on merit. There is a significant religious affinity as US is a Christian nation and founded on Judeo Christian values. Jewish pogroms in Europe were mostly initiated by Catholics, and US is mostly Protestant and don’t have the same issues. Besides, it is believed that British involvement in WW1 and WW2 happened under Jewish financial backing. Bottom line, when needed, Jewish community was willing to fund certain historical events which eventually gave them security. On the other hand, Indian diaspora in the US is recent and doesn’t have deep connections that matters like the Jewish community. There is no common religious basis for strong linkages. Majority of Indians in the US follow Hindu faith. With 800 years of enslavement and lack of opportunity post independence pushed many to seek opportunities elsewhere. Add to this the socialist leanings of IG and subsequent governments, Hindus forgot/lost their entrepreneurial leanings and became more of worker bees. Having said that, there are marked changes happening lately, more Indian Americans are venturing into politics or becoming entrepreneurs. They are establishing themselves in certain markets. Maybe in 2 generations, once fully integrated, Indian diaspora will become as influential as the Jewish community.

@MinhazMerchant @firstpost Jewish people are white. Religious angle: while many Christians are antisemitic, they share Biblical prophecy with Jews. "Indians" while disunited, also hampered by racial/religious attitudes towards non-whites. Hence US condescension on terror: "both Pakis & India are my munnas"

@MinhazMerchant @firstpost Oh man, the same old antisemitic cliches. Such lazy and outdated analysis. Islamists should really get another hobby, knitting or mahjong. Now we know why people in India say that Indian newspapers make their op ed writers pay them instead of the other way around.

@MinhazMerchant @firstpost Our NRIs are happy working hard and enjoying their Yankee dream. There’s absolutely nothing beyond some temple involvements, etc while the Jews control everything. But this is how our DNA shapes us. 😊

@MinhazMerchant @firstpost Jewish have been in the US for centuries from Vanderbuild's time. Indians rose 2 leadership roles in the US in last 10-15 years (before that they were good workers). Many grew up in CONs ruled India where 'secular' brainwash was so strong that they don't openly talk about 'Hindu'

@MinhazMerchant @rvaidya2000 @firstpost Here’s the corrected and tightened version: “Jews are represented across nearly every influential sphere — school boards, major organizations, film, and finance. They are well-educated, socially integrated with Anglo-Saxon communities, and strategically fund political leaders.1/2
