@zahmbert @Fleechiru Because it’s definitely not a unique experience, probably thousands got texted “UMAMUSUME REFERENCE IN DELTARUNE?!” by their irls within hours of its release

@Shinaxite_ Egyptian hieroglyphs (an alphabet invented by Africans in Africa) is most likely the ultimate ancestor of all Latin alphabets (like English) and Aramaic alphabets (like Arabic) btw. He’s not just wrong he’s EXTREMELY WRONG.

@RaoSahi16350969 Your fact check is absolute RUBBISH. “Haremde Goethe” is a completely different Osman Hamdi Bey Painting. This painting’s bame IS “Avluda Kadınlar” but there is no doubt that it was made by Abdülmecid Efendi because it is included in a photo album he made of his painting.

@rosebride666 @smellson213 It could also be them emulating maturity? Older man obviously hold power over younger men. Akio’s whitish hair makes him look like he might as well have gray hairs. Touga and Ruka obviously can’t, but by lightening part of their hair, maybe they seek to resemble an older man.

@catsuka This sequence unironically saved my life when I was struggling with high school. It’s so powerful, might be one of my all time favorite scenes in any animation ever.

@SlymBarlova @tacitdimension Yes, the French and Francophone-Belgian traditions are a united tradition, however their proximity shouldn’t erase Belgium’s massive contribution. As for your second point, you are a right wing French nationalist and you people cannot use objective thought, so I won’t humor you.

@AdaSlothland @tacitdimension There are franco-belgian. Same tradition. Spirou was created by a french (Rob-Vel), Morris was from 30 km of the french border, Tintin was pretty soon intentionaly vague about his country (he goes to St Nazaire to take a boat, lol), B&M and Spirou oftenly written or drawed by Fr.

@tacitdimension Thanks, Eid Mubarak to you too. Strongly recommend checking out fumetti, especially Topolino if you like more cartoony stuff or Dylan Dog if you like more gritty stuff.

@tacitdimension For Italian fumetti, some classics would be: Martin Mystere, Dylan Dog, Zagor, Topolino, Tex, Captain Miki, Blek… Not to mention Thee CORTO MALTESE.

@tacitdimension On top of all of this, Italy also has a “deep” comics history in fumetti, they may not be in the same level with US comics, BD and manga but they definitely deserve respect. It’s incomprehensible how much fumetti get ignored in these discussions.

@itsakeyboard @Furubafani Absolutely yes, but I think they meant it in the sense that they don’t try to portray her as a flawless paragon of goodness just because she’s a victim. She does things that *in isolation* are morally bad, creating a realistic portrayal of a human victim.

@number1dumb1ss @HaangEmHiigh X wasn’t made LONG after that time. Rock and X were both made by Dr Light when he was alive, there must’ve been years between their making but they were both made within one human lifetime. X was put into stasis after his completion, and woke up 100 years later.

@MaxOKE_ “Mega Man” separately for all other instances, “Megaman.exe” as one word because it’s a file name, “Rockman” as one word for all instances. They’ve been pretty consistent with this, I’m surprised there’s even discourse…

@trottlesnot @STALINFEM @gpork The issue with the movie isn’t that it casts black people in a story that takes place in Ancient/Mycenean Greece. That alone would be perfectly reasonable. The issue is that it casts non-Greek black AND WHITE people to play Greek characters. Get your priorities straight.

@blipman744 @thhouseofblack Westerners think all white people look the same just because they are lumped into the same arbitrary “race”, but that’s far from the truth. Race is a construct, geography is not. A Greek has more in common visually and culturally with a brown Egyptian than with an Anglo-Saxon.

@thhouseofblack Well, if a Chinese epic had a cast mostly consisting of Japanese and Korean people, a German guy would raise more eyebrows like bro, you’re not even close to the ideal image in my mind. And Lupita is far from the image people have in their minds

The epithet "White-armed" is used in greek mythos to symbolise the high status of noble women. It is used for Penelope and Helen as they did not toil under the sun but were royal women who were pale and stayed indoors. It's why men were dark and women white in ancient Aegean art

@AtreiLeonidas Yet Helen was described by Homer as having white hands and the rest of Ancient Greek an European literature to this day as a blond lady not as an ebony one. There are many Greeks who are blond btw

@sabers_teeth @femboxd The ancient Greeks perceived it to be history. The ancient Greeks told it as if it was history. It was certainly not fantasy to its intended audience.

The original post is deleted now, wish I had the insight to take more pictures of it. The og post was clearly about Armenians without saying it out loud. Posting this so it’s clear that many many Turks don’t deny it was a genocide, they simply think it was “necessary”.

Hey, remember when in 2022 a post that had the exact words “Some genocides are necessary” got 10K likes on Turkish Tiktok? No correlation with this month.
