The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.

Here’s my sense of where the average American is: Tired of an open border, think most people should be turned back at the border, some rare asylum cases, but ICE grabbing people from between us is going to be viscerally uncomfortable. People will soon turn heavily against it.

ICE is now snatching up people off the streets in the middle of the country. This one is not unconstitutional or illegal because they’re targeting undocumented people. And people did vote for it. But I’m telling you now, America is going to hate it. It looks and feels terrible.
