Iran refuses to back down despite heavy losses, rejecting diplomacy with the US & Israel — WP Tehran is now weaponising the Strait of Hormuz, threatening global energy flows to raise the cost of war, something Trump was warned about prior to the US attacks.

Ukraine Control Map
Ukraine Control Map@UAControlMap·
End of week map thread for Sunday 22nd March 2026 Highlights: Ukrainian forces were sighted being hit near Rybne and Solodke in west Donetsk. At this point, much of Dnipropetrovsk oblast and area north of Hulyaipole near the Yanchur river can be considered grey or blue. Our map doesn't reflect it very well, but there's been a small but significant pull back of red here Russian lost a second Ka-52, after the drone intercepted Ka-52 loss that occurred the other day. Long range strikes very much continue to degrade Russian air defence. It truly is a significant upturn, and they definitely have an advantage here in locating and targeting now. Elsewhere, losses still emerge from the Russian push towards Lyman the other day. Geolocations follow! (To the geolocators, apologies for being slow, it's been manic - our search is still not working 100% - if we have missed anything, shout at us, we work best when ashamed) Map: uacontrolmap.com

A Ukrainian defense tech company just broke into Wall Street — in the middle of Russia’s war. Drone AI startup Swarmer went public on NASDAQ at $5 and closed at $31 on day one — a 520% surge, turning a $67M company into a $670M valuation — Kyiv Independent. 1/

The use of RM-48U is a growing issue, supplementing existing SRBMs. Russia is dedicating certain S-400 air defense units to this strike role. militarnyi.com/en/news/russia…

Russia's annual winter attempt to freeze Ukrainian civilians into submission failed. So what's next? It seems a spring offensive along the front— Russia has significantly increased its offensive efforts across the entire front, signaling that preparations for its anticipated spring–summer 2026 offensive are entering a more active phase, according to @TheStudyofWar. Since mid-March, Russian forces have launched a of company- and platoon-level attacks in key areas including Kupyansk, Lyman, Pokrovsk, and the Dnipropetrovsk axis, while simultaneously intensifying artillery strikes, drone operations, and efforts to disrupt Ukrainian logistics by targeting infrastructure such as dams and supply routes. Analysts believe the Kremlin is likely preparing for a broader campaign focused on heavily fortified cities in Donetsk Oblast, such as Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, though the offensive is expected to rely less on large armored breakthroughs and more on localized, grinding assaults due to equipment shortages and the pervasive threat of Ukrainian drones. "With thousands of regime members killed—from top leaders to street-level grunts—Iranians are reporting that a sense of disorder is starting to take hold. Security forces are under stress and on the run as they threaten protesters to stay off the streets and direct strikes at the U.S., Israel and Arab neighbors across the Persian Gulf." @WSJ

⚡️🇺🇦Ukraine’s artillery crews are testing exoskeletons costing $30–40k each. Early tests show +30% less muscle strain and faster firing rates. With a 2 kg device, 17 km battery range & 20 km/h speed, fatigue drops, and like a result operational efficiency rises. ‼️Soldiers normally lift 15–30 shells/day, so battlefield economics is shifting from manpower-heavy to tech-augmented efficiency. #UkraineEconomy #Exoskeleton #DefenseInnovation Photo: open sources

1/ Global supplies of natural gas face collapse in only 10 days' time, when the last pre-war liquid natural gas shipments from the Gulf reach their destinations. The shortage threatens to cause huge disruption for Asian countries in particular. ⬇️ x.com/Osinttechnical…

In Iran, the future of war has definitively come into view. Advanced military technology had already made war precise. Now with high-volume drone warfare in Iran, that precision is mass-produced. My take:
