I once remarked that the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader could be the 21st Century's equivalent of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Okay, Trump has imposed a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz - which China will not respect. What if China decides to send warships to escort Chinese merchant vessels through the strait - will the US Navy fire on them? If the US Navy does, what do the Chinese do in retaliation? Once again, you can see how things can rapidly spiral out of control - especially when Trump isn't thinking through anything.
