Ah, dandelions. 🌼 If only they were rare, fragile, and hard to cultivate. Then we'd treasure them. But because they are hardy and successful and forgiving and adaptable, we disparage them. Consider them unworthy of our respect. Even though they are the perfect plant - providing green all year round and cheerful flowers in the spring, are edible and highly nutritious, containing vitamins A, C, and K, along with minerals like calcium and iron, and are our precious pollinator's lifeline. Please find a little love for these hard working flowers and leave them undisturbed, this month at least.

Goodbye my little friend. My male Magpie has been missing since yesterday. Today I found him dead in the garden. He’s been visiting me twice a day for seven years. Not just for food, but also to just chat. Such a beautiful bird who became close. I’ll miss him so much 💙

Pooh looked up into the branches of a big oak-tree, and then he saw a friend of his. “It’s Christopher Robin,” he said. “Ah, then you’ll be all right,” said Piglet. “You’ll be quite safe with him. Good-bye,” and he trotted off home as quickly as he could. ~A.A.Milne #friendship

The Yurok Tribe has regained roughly 47,000 acres of ancestral land in California, marking the largest land-back agreement in the state’s history. This milestone follows a 23-year collaboration with Western Rivers Conservancy, culminating in a $56 million transfer of land along the Klamath River. For more than a century, this area—including the Blue Creek watershed—was controlled by logging companies, severing the tribe’s connection to a region central to their culture and identity. Now back under tribal stewardship, the land is being restored as a salmon sanctuary and community forest. Efforts will focus on protecting cold-water habitats, reviving traditional practices like controlled burns, and strengthening biodiversity—highlighting the vital role of Indigenous leadership in long-term environmental care. A cat train in Japan. It was opened in honor of the cat Tama, who worked as a station attendant in the city of Kinokawa. The entire train is dedicated to cats, and it even has a library.

🐦This baby dunnock, picked up by a cat, is now safe, warm, & being carefully fed.🥹 That cute stubby little tail will soon grow into an important tool to balance & communicate out in the wild. If you find an injured bird, please contact us for advice - we’re happy to help💚

We've been witnessing a baby boom of late among the ex-orphans – and in many ways, we can trace it all the way back to 2008, when Eve was born. She was the first calf ever born to an orphan who had started their recovery at the Nairobi Nursery – a journey hundreds of motherless elephants have followed since. Emily, our trailblazing elephant matriarch, had come to us at one month old, pulled from a disused pit latrine. Her own mother failed to recognise her, so we raised her, and she returned to the wild. Then, on the morning of 11th December 2008, the Keepers at Voi set out early. They had been watching for Emily for weeks – and the night before, they had spotted her standing beneath a tree on a rocky kopje near the stockades, attended by two wild cows. They knew what that meant. When they returned at dawn, wobbling on unsteady legs beside her mother, was Eve. And since that moment, our wild family has continued to grow. Today it numbers 92 known babies, stretching from Eve to Imp – the newest member of the family: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates/i…

My daughter Annika is proudly autistic and 12 years old. She drew this butterfly from a photo she took herself — every vein, every scale, rendered by hand on a tablet. She signs everything she makes. Dates it. Like she already knows it matters. She's turning 13 tomorrow. Please share this for her birthday. Let's make her day.
