When it comes to data collection, why is no one talking to the schools directly. Why can't schools give their SEN data to the Dept or NCSE? Why is there no mechanism for this? @RuthCoppingerSP And ALL children in special schools MUST finish school the June they turn 18. So if a child turns 18 30 Dec 2024, they MUST leave their school placement 30 June 2024 WHILE THEY ARE STILL 17!!!

Govt announced to fanfare that #childbenefit will continue to support every 18 yr old in education. But that’s not true if you turned 18 anytime in 2023, which is many current Leaving Cert students. It’ll be restored in May - the month they finish the most expensive school year.

Shameful statistics. All the while schools try to do their best for all children, within a loaves & fish style SEN provision from the Dept & NCSE. Principals are trying so hard to have their schools accurately profiled for sufficient allocations but it is falling on deaf ears 😔

@AnneRabbitte gets frustrated 1 hr into a 2 hr meeting, imagine what EVERY parent feels dealing with them for years. @HSELive had 10 years to get PDS right before its roll out 2 yrs ago... their action plan in 2009 was another lovely Gov document with zero action!! #brokensystem

1 in 20 school aged children have an autism diagnosis in Northern Ireland. The Dept of Ed here are currently working off 1 in 67 school age children are autistic so this is the reason why many of our children are without an appropriate school place? bbc.com/news/uk-northe…
