There's a lot of modern fantasy that is obsessed with sanding down any emotional/sociopolitical tension by making everyone unproblematic and fluent in therapy-speak in ways that make zero sense for the setting or characters, while allowing the quirky fun violence to go unexamined

in your late 20s, early or late 30s etc you are not too old to fangirl, to enjoy whimsical things and whatever else you’re into. it’s absolutely okay to have fun in your life you’re never too old to do the things you like

@CEOofKuberaLeez @kakathot @JB_III @GunnerDobbins This! They had an arranged marriage to spite in part Tywin or at least the man thought Aerys had married Rhaegar off so Cersei wouldn’t be his wife. Other characters say Elia and Rhaegar were more like friends.

@JB_III @GunnerDobbins That’s bc love vs duty is a recurring theme in asoiaf. Rhaegar didn’t love Elia, we’re told by others, so his marriage was the duty he abandoned for love. Interestingly, Ned keeping the secret of Jon’s parentage was a duty taken for love for his sister and I find that beautiful

@GunnerDobbins I hate the fact that GRRM (possibly) but other characters in the book (definitely) want us to see Rhaegar and Lyanna as some great love story as if Eiia Martell and her children (who would pay the ultimate price) didn't exist. It was the epitome of selfishness.
