@insidewrite1957 @RJPcoach Given many will have been volunteering for 10 years, and many do it as a parent - it's easy to see why many call it a day

@RJPcoach Succession planning is one of the hardest things in grassroots How can we encourage good grassroots coaches, and there are many, to stay in the game once their son or daughter reaches 16/18? Do they want to start again at u6s? How do we retain their expertise? 👍😊⚽️

Are you okay? I think I'm okay, but I'm not always sure. If you aren't feeling okay, talk to someone. Anyone. Sometimes you find yourself telling a stranger things you would never tell someone you are close to. Talk about it.

@MyFootballCoach school football the worst for this. see it far too often where pe teachers pick the big lads and celebrate every hoof up field and kick out for a throw in. Effective (sometimes) yes but it never changes, effort, physicality and getting stuck in more valued

Still too much focus on players with physical assets in this country. The technicians 🧠 are more often overlooked as ‘can’t get around the pitch’ Not enough focus on 1v1 🙌

.@GNev2 Spot on! We don’t produce Kroos, Modric, Jorginho, Pirlo…. #Euro2024  | #DENENG

@GJHeidler I like that a lot and I think it’s an amazing approach. 👏🏼 Id also say it’s possible to share knowledge without sharing deep tactical insights on his current team like he does in the book. I think a lot of teams will have learnt a lot about LFCs approach for sure.

Just added 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟳 to the thread. 🧵 Really struggling to understand why Pep Lijnders would publicly give up so much detail, but I’m certainly happy he has. 📝 62 pages means I’ve only competed around 14% of the book, but I’ll be reading this EVERY night until completion. 📖

DAY 7: Pep Lijnders - Intensity Book I managed to read 62 pages in my 2 hours today. My honest thoughts are, why is he giving away so much detailed information publicly? 🤯 I’ll continue to read this book at night times, outside of this mini challenge. It’s an absolute gem. 💎

I now live in a world and a space of no morals. No ethics. Of absolute and utter manipulation. This is not a nice world.

@virginmedia literally the worst customer service ever. No help, from anyone, no communication. Can't wait for my contract to end

@RJPcoach Feels like as soon as we hit 11v11 at u13, so many expect teams to be run like adult football

@stuwolwalton Yep - bear with it as it's a bit of a slow burner in the first season

@RJPcoach So true! Much easier to do when winning is not your main focus. Focus on the outcome leads to fear, hard to have a sense of humour when your full of fear! Focus on the process & the people, enjoy the ride, it’s a long journey!

@Battfactor @RJPcoach Let another coach do a session and stand back and watch Gave me lots of ideas I also found doing games from YM2 with older groups useful as something different They invariably responded positively 👍😊⚽️

@11millsy This is a good point, pitch/goal size could influence people heavily

@Battfactor Unfortunately that is the case . Should be pushed a year at least . Also the infrastructure not available in the UK as most venues full size 11 aside goals and pitches far too big for 12 year olds / teams fold as not enough players etc etc

What is it about grassroots football that means as soon as 11v11 happens, the idea of development goes out of the window? I'm generalising but it seems so many quickly prioritise size and physicality above anything

@insidewrite1957 I'm with you but sadly I find these days a lot of parents don't have the patience for development!

@Battfactor As i used to say It doesn’t matter what everyone else does, it’s what we do that matters A long way to go, but there are far more development minded coaches at 11v11 than when I started 30 years ago 👍😊⚽️

@RJPcoach @insidewrite1957 Yes, i'm definitely looking into that - acutely aware that having only really had my voice and ideas for so long, it could do with some fresh impetus

@ContactCounts Largely have to agree, too many coach/parent egos putting winning above all else.
