Humanoid Robots Face Off in IKEA Assembly Challenge at IROS 2026
BitRobot Network launched the Humanoid IKEA Assembly Challenge for IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh where teams program Unitree G1 robots to build an IKEA UTTER children's table using precise hand movements and spatial awareness.
No tools are needed. The challenge relies solely on loco manipulation in unstructured spaces with checkpoints for partial and full assembly. Human assistance is penalized.
Co-organized by Unitree Robotics, Lightwheel AI and others it offers free training data simulations and remote labs.
The event is drawing strong interest from experts such as Google DeepMind's Jie Tan who sees it as a key benchmark for everyday robot helpers.
