This advice from the UConn AD is laughably ignorant of basic principles of law and is flatly illegal. The Tuscaloosa state court ruling making Bediako eligible includes a provision prohibiting the NCAA from "threatening, imposing, attempting to impose, suggesting, or implying any penalties on Mr. Bediako or the University of Alabama." The NCAA is effectively a trade union - it is not a government entity and has no statutory legal basis to exist. That means the NCAA is beholden by any law or legal ruling even at the state court level. So if Tuscaloosa state court says "you can't punish Bama for this," and the NCAA ignores it and doesn't count games Bediako plays in for NCAA tournament eligibility, the NCAA is almost certainly in contempt of court and open to significant penalties and future liability. Don't confuse the NCAA's inability to regulate NIL with a state court's ability to regulate the NCAA. *I am a practicing attorney, these thoughts are my own and not legal advice.

There's always gonna be another retard that gets home from his 9-5 to play 2-3 games, but they're bleeding the most passionate part of their community, consistently. Some of these guys play sports, go out on Saturday nights, whatever, I played COD. Spent many months climbing global leaderboards, bought every battle pass, wasted thousands of hours worth of my life, to be the last person they consider, time and time again. It is what it is.

The reality this year was OpTic had an abysmal year for their standards, and then was godlike for the big one. Saying EWC doesn't matter though is faded by anyone.

I hear you. The fact is the aura that used to exist with Champs isn’t the same. It became a playoff with the CDL. It isn’t what Champs was. It’s still the most important event but that’s MOSTLY due to the prize pool. To discount an event that is basically for the same amount is insane.

This depends entirely on the results of EWC.

Some urban legends will exist no matter what the truth. Again, truth is worse. They didn't value Alex - and spent more on other players who are no longer in the league (though THT may be back on a team this year, we'll see)

But chose not to. You don't start someone in the NBA finals if you don't value them. They valued him. Just went cheap

@AlexAtTheTime @EricPincus Because of the money. I think the whole point of the thread was saying if the Lakers were more willing to spend money, which new ownership might, they would have kept him. They didn't want to go over and pay the luxury tax.
