@sarahsalviander Thanks for the review! I’ve added that to my list of movies to go to. So far, a very short list.

Saw Project Hail Mary again last night at a private screening. It was even better a second time. The first viewing, I was caught up in the story, the details, and comparison with the book. Last night, I could slow down and really feel it. The hope, the self-sacrifice, the stubborn refusal to give up on life and goodness even when everything looks impossible. It’s remarkable how a movie can be so thoroughly Christian in its spirit without ever preaching or waving a flag. No sermons, no forced religious moments, just a story that lives out grace, redemption, and love of others in the most unexpected way. That’s the kind of art I want more of, that doesn’t betray storytelling for messaging, but lets the deeper truths emerge naturally, powerfully, and memorably. If you haven’t seen Project Hail Mary yet, go while you still can. And if you have, go see it again. It rewards a second look. (My full review is linked in the original post.)

This may offend some of you, but I mostly dislike overtly Christian entertainment. I find most of it a betrayal of both art and witness. Instead, I'd love to see a return of movies like Project Hail Mary that are quietly, subtly Christian. So subtle that you sometimes don't even realize you're being witnessed to. As an atheist kid growing up in a secular country, the only theology I got was from Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. Star Wars introduced me to a tangible sort of spirituality (oh, how my heart ached for it) while The Lord of the Rings subtly poured the very soul of Christianity into my heart so that when I finally encountered the gospels it already felt familiar to me. There is great value in this kind of entertainment. It's almost paradoxical, but putting storytelling and art first produces a far more powerful Christian witness than putting the messaging front and center. (This is why so most "woke" entertainment fails.) Check out my article below if you wanna read my review of Project Hail Mary and how it's a Christian movie. open.substack.com/pub/sarahsalvi…

A common response to the fine-tuning argument is to say that of course the universe is finely tuned, because if it wasn't we wouldn't be here to observe it. That's a truism and a tautology, not an explanation. Think of it this way. You're standing before a firing squad of dozens of skilled shooters, all with loaded weapons pointed straight at you, who all fire at you simultaneously. Yet you walk away unscathed. Your response? Well, if I hadn't survived, I wouldn't be here to observe it. Does that explain this extremely improbable outcome? No. It's a statement of the obvious, but you'd be searching for answers. In the same way, the fine-tuning of the universe to allow conscious life cries out for an explanation. The possibilities are that this happened by 1. Chance 2. Necessity 3. Design Option 1 is the firing squad problem. The odds are so overwhelmingly against this "just happening" that proponents have resorted to untestable and bizarre explanations like an infinite multiverse. There is no evidence for Option 2. Nothing in the laws of nature requires the finely-tuned parameters of the universe to be the way they are. Logically, this leaves Option 3 as the most probable explanation. When I was a physics student coming out of my lifelong atheism, I was deeply moved by this argument. It didn't matter what my prejudices were, the logic was so sound that I couldn't see any way around it.

The Church is present wherever her children profess and bear witness to the Gospel: in the workplace, civil society, and all human relationships. Wherever we reveal the beauty of Christian life through our choices, we foretell the justice and peace that will be fulfilled in the Kingdom of God. #LumenGentium #GeneralAudience

@BrophyJed @TolkienWorldG Hobbit, yes. Rings of Power, never! They did Galadriel wrong. You were in it though, so there’s a bright spot. Are you the only one that’s been in all of them?

@derekgilbert Skywalk Tv should do a weekly breakdown, if it’s weekly episodes and not a movie. That would be awesome.

@TheNewMystics @RxOnlyFL I watched the halftime. Did you even get a translation of the lyrics? Post the translation for your followers and tell them, especially the Spanish speaking children, that it was better to watch than someone who apparently is now reformed doing a show.

Jesus is so proud of every true American who avoided watching a brown American yesterday and instead tuned in to a cringy, washed up pedophile on TBN singing a turn-or-burn song.

Imagine going to your child’s high school graduation day, you are excited and you decide to stop and grab some flowers for the day, you aren’t too worried about being a few minutes late because what’s the worst that can happen right? Well at this school in South Carolina, they were denying any parent who was late at the gate and made them watch from outside the barrier. What would you do if you were denied entry to your child’s graduation?

@ModernityNews @PrisonPlanet Men should not be allowed in women’s sports when it comes to school and college. However, let them in pro women sports. That way all the pro women players who are advocating for this, will have all of their records demolished by men who couldn’t get into men’s pro sports.

@seanfeucht If you mention you’re concerned about Islamic terrorism, you’re considered a right-wing racist by the left. At the same time, the liberals shut down Christmas markets & New Year’s celebrations cuz they’re concerned about Islamic terrorist attacks. Make it make sense, please.
