$QUBIC rests on a mathematical idea that almost no one highlights, and yet it conditions everything else. Determinism. Without it, the network simply could not exist.
Here is why it is so fundamental, explained simply.
Let us start with a counterintuitive truth. On most computers, the same calculation can give slightly different results from one machine to another. The cause lies in how floating point numbers are handled, in processor parallelism, in the subtleties of hardware. In daily use, this tiny imprecision is invisible. For a network that must reach agreement, it is catastrophic.
Because here is the heart of how Qubic works. The name itself comes from Quorum Based Computation. On the network, 676 Computors each execute, independently, exactly the same calculation. Then they compare their results. If at least 451 of them obtain the same output, that result is accepted as the network's truth. This is what we call the quorum.
And this is where determinism becomes vital. For 451 machines to agree on an identical result, that result must be identical down to the bit on each of them. Not approximately. Not almost. Exactly. The slightest divergence, and consensus collapses.
This is a point few people realize. As long as Qubic runs, as long as the network advances tick after tick, it means the majority of Computors are synchronized down to the last bit of the network's state. And if the quorum is not reached, the network stops, simply. No half measure. This absolute rigor is a guarantee, not a weakness.
To make this possible, Qubic makes demanding engineering choices. Direct execution on the hardware, in C++, without a virtual machine that would introduce unpredictability. And an inheritance from far back, the computation model derived from work on ternary logic, where each unit is not zero or one, but minus one, zero, or plus one. An architecture designed for perfect reproducibility.
An essential point of honesty. Determinism has a price. It imposes heavy constraints on developers, forbids certain conveniences that other chains allow themselves, and demands a strict writing discipline. It is not a magic formula, it is an accepted tradeoff. You exchange flexibility for absolute certainty.
But that is exactly what makes the whole thing solid. In a digital world where almost everything is approximation, Qubic chose perfect reproducibility. The same calculation, everywhere, giving exactly the same result. That is what turns hundreds of independent machines into a single shared truth.
While many talk about trust, Qubic replaces it with something stronger. Mathematical certainty. Tick after tick. Computor after Computor. It is on this exactness, invisible but absolute, that everything else is built.
