Had a diary input and didn't know what it was for and couldn't find the email to tell me. Turned up to a conference to deliver a keynote speech. Thank god I am good a winging it. Got a standing ovation. Now driving two hours for another diary input I haven't a clue about.

I teach my culinary students to use only wooden ladles to stir and not metal ones. Nobody has asked me why. It's because I don't want to listen to clanging metal for hours. Nothing to do with food or porosity or thermal anything.

@pauljefff_ @fesshole He probably thinks everything is fine. He assumes the household’s organised rhythm of each day, the structure of each week, indicates everything is fine. He hasn’t learned who you are. Breaking away and restarting is a huge upheaval. Perhaps counselling is worth a try.

This is heartbreaking but way too common. When someone starts withdrawing, it’s because they’ve learned the other person isn’t actually listening/interested. Marriage shouldn’t feel like what you’re experiencing, don’t forget the kids are watching, they learn what love looks like from you two. Maybe it’s time for a proper talk or counselling before the emotional gap gets too wide to fix.

My husband doesn't bother to listen to anything I say so I've stopped telling him anything about myself. It's just delivery of information now. He hasn't noticed. I'm gutted but I'll never leave because of the children.

@fesshole This is the saddest thing I’ve read on feeshole. Human connections are out there. You could try doing something you like in a place close to home and see if you can strike up a chat with a stranger everyday. One of those chats might develop into a connection.

I live alone, have no living family and rarely see any friends. If I ever need to order anything online I wait until the week running up to my birthday or Christmas to make it feel like I'm getting lots of presents.

@rorysutherland I’m not arguing for the removal of juries, I’m pointing out that following an argument based on simple logic is beyond the capabilities of many of the public. Therefore they will ONLY come to a decision via intuition.

I think everyone may be missing the point on the jury system. The value of a jury is that they are free to arrive at a decision *without* being required to rationalise it, and hence are free to use their powers of intuition alongside their powers of reasoning.

@rorysutherland Fair point. However have you met members of the public? So many of them (of us) can’t follow a reasoned argument and have zero idea of scientific principles. So definitely can’t follow a scientific argument. Many people with BA/MAs think it’s clever to not understand science.
