@maxtempers I hope they win the case, then Tesco just burns all their stores to the ground and leaves the UK. It's what we deserve.

@catmomo1498286 @Kingbingo_ @firasmodad My issue with it is the omission of rationality. You can be ‘sure’ of something purely using your gut feeling rather than any evidence. On the flip side most evidence presented to court cant ever be fully clear of doubt. ‘What if a witness is lying’, ‘What if there was a mistake’

@catmomo1498286 @Kingbingo_ @firasmodad Dan is definitely being pedantic but he isn’t wrong. Probably why the Judge is annoyed. They have to adjust their instructions so everyone can understand.

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK IS GOING ON IN BRITAIN?! 😡 A Wetherspoons manager in Braintree has just been caught on camera openly refusing to serve customers who support Reform UK. “I’m deciding that”, he smugly tells punters. Refusing service over politics?! In a bloody pub?! Reform UK is currently the biggest party in the country, leading the polls at 25-28%, favourites to win the next election. These aren’t some fringe weirdos, they’re ordinary, hard-working Brits. The exact salt-of-the-earth customers who pack out Wetherspoons every week, keep the pints flowing and the lights on. Without them, half these pubs would be broke. And some snotty little bar manager thinks he can play political gatekeeper? F*ck off! That’s not how Britain works. You don’t get to ban paying customers because of who they vote for. If you can’t handle serving people with different views, don’t work with the public. Simple as. Tim Martin, sort this out and fire him immediately. This is a disgrace.

@Landeur Trust me on this one issue which may not be clear from Britain: 100% of American conservatives, including those who hate Trump, are aligned on this very issue: in our eyes PM’s “no” meant betrayal from our ally in the time of need. This will not be easily forgotten.

Trump trying to use the Falkland Islands as a pressure point is not sensible. The lefties in the UK already hate America and Trump. This won’t change that. But on your current trajectory nationalist / patriotic Brits will start to hate you too.

Yep. I quoted AGM’s arguments to Commission officials 2019-20 on why they were actually strengthening the companies they wanted to attack. They just smirked and said you’ll see. The Commission learned nothing and instead took a chainsaw to their own tech/talent ecosystem with mad AI regulation etc. Which has driven amazing European talent and risk capital to America. So it’s v logical that SW1 NPCs now want to *join disastrous EU tech regulation* we can swerve thanks to Leave winning in 2016… All systems working as intended…
Antonio García Martínez (agm.eth)@antoniogm

Amazing? Utterly predictable. I was writing in 2017 how GDPR would only entrench the Google/FB duopoly even further, and mostly hurt startup competitors. Journalists and regulators are complete dimwits with no working conception of how tech and markets work.

One thing that most people may not realize is that taking off 10% of the energy from the world economy does not mean a 10% shock to GDP. Because energy is required for all economic processes, from upstream to final demand, the shock is much larger. Stagflation will mask this shock. The shock to real living standards will be much more painful than people realize bc of the inflation illusion. Most people might even get a raise in nominal terms!

This twitter classic "red button / blue button" [everyone who picks blue dies unless more than 50% do; everyone who picks red lives] question is cursed but we've learned a lot about people since it went around on the timeline the last time First to get this out of the way - there is zero actual reason to push blue - none - there is no "payoff to cooperation" being modeled since the payoff on offer - not dying - is the same for both choices. The only rational reason to pick blue is that you *hope* less than 50% of people pick blue so you can end your life and escape the person who is putting you in contrived hypotheticals for his own amusement With that out of the way - what we've learned in the 2 years since this hit the timeline the first time is that many, many people are simply next token predictors and when they see this example they say they will pick the "cooperative" choice (which isn't actually that!) We have also learned that when confronted with the stupidity of this position, they will simply costlessly double down and "argue" about it forever rather than admit error Really, the question is extremely revealing

@_kruptos We need to rethink the way in which big cities and smaller towns are structured. Maybe have just a few gigantic cities, connected by fast rail and a few smaller towns, each specialized in some industry, with vast tracts of empty countryside? Something to promote extended families

@ChristianHeiens @HelmerVA Here’s a thought why don’t we advocate together and ban gerrymandering across the country? I’ll gladly have Illinois, Virginia, California ect redraw their districts to make them fair as long as Texas and the rest of the red states to the same!

Democrat Delegate @HelmerVA drew this new 7th District explicitly so he can run for it himself. His house is located at the very edge of the district in Fairfax County. A good first use of this tactic would be to vote in the August 4th primary for whichever Democrat has the BEST chance of defeating Helmer. Dan fucked over rural Virginia to further his own political ambitions. It would only be fitting for us to fuck him back.
Christian Heiens 🏛@ChristianHeiens

I will 100% be voting in the Democratic primary for the 7th District lobstermander, and I encourage all Right-wing Virginians to do the same. There are two strategies when doing this, depending on the environment and the district in question: 1) Vote for the most idiotic candidate who can win to ensure that Dems have lightning rods in Congress that the Right can fundraise and organize against. 2) Vote for the most Right-wing candidate who can win and subvert the Democratic Party from within. Either works for different reasons.
