@tom_hubert Sikta plantations are still poisoning our land which is what this direct investment is funding.

As the launch of Coillte's ISFF fund has shown, colonial history is still poisoning discussions about overseas investors in Ireland. Are they American and/or about tax and jobs? Good. Are they British and/or about land? Bad. We can do better. thecurrency.news/articles/10927…

@TomTierney18 @Irishwildlife The fund will and sell them on the to international market. The fund is "Irish Strategic Forestry Fund" which they don't know the investors (they claim) as not sold yet. They plan to wind it up and sell off the whole scheme in 15 years so it'll not be returned as a public asset.

@IrishRainforest Just finished your book @IrishRainforest, absolutely incredible thank you. A question popped to my mind, where do you get your pollen analysis done ? Would love to do it for some ancient looking trees up here in wicklow.

Pollen records show pine was an important part of the wildwood here before people began clearing for agriculture, c. 2000 BC. There were none on the land when I came, so I planted saplings in open areas. Great to see them growing away with new, self-seeded forest all around.

Can't agree more. Hundreds of acres of land at my doorstep and I see myself driving to anywhere less grim on my daily walks.
