There are those who want to replace the Canadian flag with the pride flag. Pay close attention to the wording. It's about being 'inclusive', 'not offending' and 'we're all Canadian'. In actuality, it is a soft attempt to supplant the Canadian identity. The idea is to make another identity the primary and socially acceptable identity, presented in a wrapper of love, tolerance, and inclusion. Yet if this were to go ahead, I can guarantee things would become very intolerant the moment you didn't change your flag out for the month. Remember, it's a slow, insidious form of indoctrination, and you are not the primary target. Even if you can see right through it, the generation behind you, or the generation behind them, who are still forming their identities, might not. Even if it doesn't go through, which it likely won't, it sets a precedent that it's acceptable and reasonable to challenge a national identity, and lays the groundwork for another attempt in five/ten years. There are few things younger generations love more than rebelling against the views and social norms of the generation before, and the left is offering them a pre-built, socially celebrated identity right as they're entering the most vulnerable stage of their lives. A small number will see through it immediately. A few will fall for it, be cringe for a few years, and grow out of it after. But look me in the eye, and tell me you don't know someone who would fall for it so hard they make it their entire identity. They will be the useful idiots of tomorrow, screaming and screaming and screaming, until any discussion is drowned out, and any competing identity or world view is legislated into a crime. Clearly, they're the side of tolerance and inclusion. Have you remembered to honour the pride flag today? (Mandatory)
