Black Lagoon is one of those anime that you MUST watch in the dub because this English dub is top-tier. I mean, the show itself is amazing regardless, but still. Black Lagoon is also a perfect example that you can have a pretty good anime with diverse characters in it. Perfect

I think it justified the rest of the series’ existence. Only so many ways to joke “American WASPs are hypocrites!” Before it gets old.

It absolutely was not this one scene. There were 3 scripts, one of which was named Raped that got the show cancelled. The creator was criticized for lack of humor, especially Alone, which he supposedly quipped: "There's 1 joke? Where is it. I'll remove it." There's this odd curtain of sentiment surrounding the show where people pretend to not see the problem, especially since one of the scripts contained a coat hanger abortion. It's probably the most depressing self deception I've ever read. People really believe cartoon network execs asked for this stuff.
