The math of modern political distraction is brutal. We went from counting student suicides to counting viral impressions on a timeline.

What actual change will the CJP protest bring? I believe, none.

By shrinking the target to a single ministry official, the actual core of power isn't just protected, it is completely insulated.

Let's cut through the noise: the current administration faces structural incompetence from top to bottom. But do not mistake a career-building digital gimmick for an actual youth uprising.

Cockroach Janta Party is less a challenge to the state and more an example of reactionary movementism. channeling anger into spectacle & memes. their lack of political core & ideology will ultimately leave status quo intact.
CJP is beating around the bush. the founders want to maintain their 5 minutes to fame & are taking away space from real people’s movements happening all over the country. (think adivasis resisting, students protesting and getting tortured, manipur is burning, the nicobar project etc etc)

Congress's decline cannot be separated from the growing religious polarisation of voters, especially in North India. Many observers agree that no previous ruling party has pursued such divisive politics so openly for electoral gain, while concerns about the increasing influence of the establishment over democratic institutions have also grown over the past decade.

Dear @ShashiTharoor , I enjoyed your spirited defence of Rahul Gandhi. Alas, it does not address the central thesis of my column and interview—his dismal leadership record. The facts speak for themselves.The Congress suffered heavy defeats in three successive General Elections fought under his leadership. Meanwhile, the number of Congress MLAs has come down by almost 50% under his watch. In 2013, the Congress was in power in 14 states. That was the party Rahul Gandhi inherited. Now the Congress is in power in just 5 states. As the countrywide footprint of the party shrinks, surely its principal leader should be held accountable? Or is that a question too uncomfortable for the Congress to face?

We as a country/ population cannot be unscientific in all walks of life and still hope to bring in industrialization and tons of jobs.

TN BJP’s biggest problem was not #DMK, #TVK. It was its own fear, obedience, and obsession with cutting down #Annamalai.
If they had spent half this aggression fighting DMK instead of attacking the one man who actually did, Annamalai wouldn’t have needed to become the face of resistance.
Ideology is useless if you cannot defend it, package it, or create a narrative people can rally behind.
#Annamalai walked into DMK-controlled media, took the hits, gave it back, and built his own space.

They should not be part of INDIA Block. They are major force in Punjab and in Delhi. Congress is their opponent in Punjab. Delhi, there is no scope for pooling votes of congress and AAP. Let both parties strengthen themselves in these states. AAP is weakening day by day.
Present India Block has meaning in WB if Mamata joins with Congress for a consolidated struggle, in UP if the synergy of Lok Sabha polls could be maintained.
In Bihar, Rjd is discredited, in Maharashtra, old NCP and SS are discredited. Congress must stand on themselves. In Kashmir, BJP is zero. in Jammu, some alignment may do good for INDIA.

We are seeing the rise of self-proclaimed "new-generation leaders" who target low-hanging bureaucratic fruits just to build their own political careers.
Their ideologies are completely hidden, their past actions are highly inconsistent, and their sudden rise looks incredibly suspicious. They are masquerading as champions of the youth while acting as a safe pressure valve for the state.
I support the fight for a better future, but I refuse to blindly cheer for these new, manufactured figures. It is entirely possible to back the student movement while remaining deeply skeptical of the shady leaders trying to hijack it.
Turn your back on the gimmicks, but keep fighting the system.

Agree that Rahul Gandhi is among the best politicians in India right now. He has something India desperately needs - decency and idealism, rather than settling for low standards, poor morals and incitement. Even better, this new avatar doesn't fear defeat. He keeps trying. His voice is extremely necessary right now.

Writing this without an iota of hate of ill-will toward @Ram_Guha , @HartoshSinghBal , Harish Khare, @tavleen_singh @waglenikhil and many other Gandhi family baiters who have repeatedly targeted Rahul Gandhi and his politics of opposition to the Modi led BJP. I now understand that most of you are still fighting the @INCIndia of 1975 and 1984 among others just as the Sangh is fighting the Congress of Gandhi and Nehru. Much of legacy media and social media are dominated by these two groups. But here's a third group which became politicised in 1992 with the rise of Hindutva- the pro- Rahul Gandhi voice on social media is roughly this group of Gen X ers and a motley mix of a new millennials and GenX. We are disturbed by the repeated attacks on Rahul Gandhi not because we are members of the Congress party or are blind followers of any cult- we are disturbed because the anti-Congressism of the earlier groups is blinding most toward the clear and present danger that stares before us - the existential threat to our Republic. Rahul Gandhi is among the very few of our politicians who has been able to consistently articulate that danger by his fearless attacks on the Sangh and its agenda of destroying the secular fabric of this country. He might never become Prime Minister of this country - but history will be kinder towards him than many of you would like to believe.

Loyalty to state is a new concept altogether. What does it mean? is loyalty to country's constitution enough.
All the Governors of each state is from outside the state. The state governments are run under his name and seal. Is it not constitutional. Same is the case with many Chief Justices of High Courts.
Many ministers in the Union Cabinet also are from Rajya Sabha and elected from other states than of their domicile. PM Manmohan Singh was elected from Assam.
In India, we do not have Citizenship of a State.

One who has no loyalty to Karnataka, no relationship at all, no connection? Is there nobody from Karnataka fit to represent Karnataka? Cockroach Janta Party: A Comfortable Protest
Let us look at the actual math of forcing a government's hand. High-profile resignations do not happen because a crowd shows up for a few hours, takes photos, and goes home before dinner.
Political power only bends when the cost of ignoring public fury becomes too high to bear.
Dissent can never look so comfortable. True resistance is ugly, disruptive, and carries immense personal cost.
Look at the Indian wrestlers' protest. They did not host a scheduled, conflict-free afternoon march. They stayed on the streets for months, faced brutal police crackdowns, were forcefully dragged away, and had their tents ripped out at Jantar Mantar.
The state treated them as a genuine threat precisely because they refused to be a polite, easily ignored group of elite protesters.
Similarly, the farmers' movement forced a retreat only because they occupied the borders for thirteen brutal months through winter, heat, and immense personal loss.
They created a structural crisis that could not be absorbed or managed by the ruling elite.
When a protest wraps up exactly on schedule without causing a single ripple of discomfort to governance, it becomes a release valve, not a revolution.
If a movement is not willing to dig in for a long, uncomfortable, indefinite struggle, then the entire exercise is just a safe digital branding campaign. It poses zero threat to the status quo.
To be perfectly clear, this is not an endorsement of chaos or lawlessness; a peaceful, resilient assembly is the very cornerstone of a healthy democracy.
But judging by the curated choreography of yesterday’s event, it is highly evident that the CJP completely lacks a concrete blueprint for long-term political impact, they seem entirely content with simply trending on Instagram.

Don't mistake a small crowd at Jantar Mantar, propped up by anti-India and anti-Modi left-wing forces, for a mass movement. A handful of people gathering around you & CJP doesn't make you a crusader.
When your crowd includes people known for abusing Brahmins and mocking Lord Ram, you've already revealed what your movement truly stands for.
Mark my words today — you're on your way to becoming the next Umar Khalid. And remember, many such "revolutionaries" have come and gone; the nation has moved on without them.

Yesterday, thousands of us made history. Our peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar showed the government a trailer of what cockroaches are capable of when we unite. Most people who joined us yesterday had never participated in a protest before. But they felt emboldened by our collective presence to express their sheer anger and frustration at the education system. Change cannot happen if we don’t make our voices heard. I want to thank each and every one of you who braved the hot summer sun, young kids and students included, and proved that a peaceful protest is our greatest strength. The government cannot touch a unified, peaceful movement. Us cockroaches don’t ever need to fear them. But this doesn't end here. Dharmendra Pradhan has wronged an entire generation. If he is not removed or does not step down within the next 7 days, we will be forced to continue our protest on the ground. I will address you all on an Instagram live later today. Stay tuned.

All said and done, national mainstream channels enjoy more credibility than any social media posts. One will not believe a social media post. But a news report from national main media is quotable and certainly have a better chance of being taken seriously.
Protests, some social media posted not even hundred people attended. some said thousands attended.
Main stream media said hundreds of people or thousands of people attended. So it is safe to believe that maximum a few thousands attended .

I saw many people complaining that mainstream media did not cover the Cockroach Janata Party protest at Jantar Mantar yesterday.
But here’s a simple question.
Why are we spending our energy complaining about platforms that chose not to cover an event instead of supporting the platforms that actually did?
Most digital media outlets covered the protest. The information was available. The videos were available. The reports were available.
If you believe an issue deserves attention, the solution is not endlessly demanding validation from a handful of television channels. The solution is to watch, read, share, and support the media organisations that are already doing the work.
Every click, every view, every subscription, and every share is a vote for the kind of journalism you want to survive.
So perhaps the question is not, “Why didn’t mainstream media cover it?”
The better question is, “Why aren’t we strengthening the media that did?
