MISLEADING MEDIA REPORTS ON PANGODE ELEPHANT TUSK THEFT CONDEMNED It is noticed that a section of the media reporting the news about the theft case of elephant tusks from Pangode Military Station, devoid of facts and truth. The irresponsible and reckless, incorrect reporting is strongly condemned. It is also noticed that a few news channels are also involved in incorrect, unethical and misleading reporting about the case. In a well-coordinated operation, the Indian Coast Guard Ship 'Anagh' evacuated 09 fishermen from a sinking boat about 80 NM from Vizhinjam and brought them to Vizhinjam, Thiruvananthapuram . As per alert received in the Indian Coast Guard, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Mumbai the Coast Guard Ship was dispatched from Vizhinjam for rescue operations. It is alleged that the cause of sinking of the IFB was a collision with MT Solis, a Panama registered merchant vessel travelling from Oman to Colombo. Headquarters Southern Air Command (SAC) successfully conducted a high-tempo joint maritime exercise “Kalari Leap” , in the Lakshadweep and Minicoy archipelago, alongwith forces from Armed Forces Special Operations Division (AFSOD) & Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on 24 Feb 26.

The exercise was designed to validate joint planning,rapid force projection & precision execution in a challenging maritime environment. The Ops encompassed airborne & air-landed insertions,special heliborne missions, amphibious assault,anti-ship strike & maritime search &rescue

Air Ops formed a critical component of the exercise,with employment of assets like An-32,Mi-17V5 & Su-30MKI.Indian Coast Guard deployed its ships &Gemini boats.Its Dornier 228 aircraft was employed for search & rescue missions and shepherding the Fighters, for the maritime strike

A seminar-cum-address on grievance redressal mechanisms for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and their dependents was conducted as a civil–military fusion initiative by Thiruvananthapuram District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) in association with the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office and Station Headquarters, Pangode Military Station, Thiruvananthapuram. Over 75 serving and retired personnel and their families attended. Several cases resolved on the spot. Similar redressal sessions will be scheduled every month. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff visited Headquarters Southern Air Command, on 16, Feb, 2026, for attending the Annual Commanders’ Conference of Southern Air Command . The CAS was received by Air Marshal Manish Khanna, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SAC and was presented with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. The theme of the conference was ‘Operational Efficiency through Decision Autonomy’. The CAS interacted with field commanders from Stations under SAC and highlighted the crucial role of the Southern Air Command in safeguarding the Indian Ocean Region and advancing India’s strategic interests.
