It’s not perfect, far from it, but promotion ( and careers) are not determined by 40 minutes of polish and therefore a process not just reliant on interview naturally creates a diversity in style/thinking in rank for those that are successful.

Got a call from a DC that sat his Sgts process & passed. He thanked me for making changes to a process a few years ago that has allowed those like him that hate interviews to show skills of a Sgt as part of a wider process. Felt immensely humbled on results day he rang me.

Today was a day to celebrate, read out citations for long service and DG commendations at a lovely awards ceremony and even managed to say a word I have always struggled to pronounce. “Kleptocracy”

Super proud, one of my team has been awarded an OBE in the Kings Birthday Honours. Throughly deserved for decades of unbelievable work protecting people and I’m sure every SIO has had his book. I have version 1 he tells me. But now on V5.

Today we said a heartfelt thank you & farewell for the retirement of Sgt George. A top man and officer who has Policed the City for many years with true professionalism. His experience and caring way will leave a huge void but wish him all the very best for his next chapter 👏
