@basemntbrothers In theory the N64 could do better than the Neo Geo in terms of ROM size. Only issue was that ROM chips that exceeded 64MB were prohibitively expensive. And the read speeds on the N64 were actually faster as well, unfortunately not many developers figured out the memory layout.
English

Apples and oranges. More powerful in some ways, less in others (video chip, 3D capabilities). For one thing, Neo Geo had a huge rom bus for instant access to game memory (the "Max 330 Mega") whereas the N64 and PS1 are limited to what they can fit into a small ram allocation.

@gamer_lafan The Neo geo was not more powerful than n64 and PlayStation. Arcade perfect ports exist on the PlayStation of metal slug.

@St1ka There's a 3DS game called Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land. Sadly it has some technical issues that do bring the game down like bad hitboxes and unfair difficulty.
Given how much is in regular show. Its a shame there wasn't a point and click game.
English

@gbs_central Even after it was first printed. I still can't believe my art is on GBS magazine vol 3

Creating GB Studio Magazine has been one of the most rewarding projects we've completed. What's another awesome modern indie magazine? Bonus points if it's Indie Game Dev or Retro Gaming related.

@morphcat 2kb, thats a large amount of space. You could fit a basic atari game in that little bit of area.
In all seriousness this is awesome to see and its gonna be so cool to play once the game is done.
English

We haven't posted in a while. Triple Jump is very technical and less visual currently.
But here's how the 512KB MMC1 Triple Jump ROM allocates its space.
The circled areas are small islands of unused space that we're hoping to tap into. They add up to a whopping 2KB! #NESdev

@gbs_central If this can accurately playback wav files then sign me up.

@Nintendeal The game is a hidden gem that everyone needs to play. Its interesting seeing a nostalgic take on 70s anime in a ps1 game. So glad its got a switch port now.

@St1ka Agreed, and its important that we branch out to other consoles/systems and try new things. Especially since I've seen so many cool games on other consoles that could be on something like the gameboy or N64 like visual novels or bullet hell shmups.
English

@Developer_n0 It's something that's kind of obvious but also kind of easy to forget.
The console we choose as kids (or our parents choose for us) will likely end up deciding our gaming tastes for us.
English

@St1ka Some of the zelda cloning is helped by how easy it is to do in GB studio. Another big reason is most of the developers played nintendo consoles where most likely they enjoy zelda. Only reason I'm straying from that is because I wanted something like secret of mana on the GBC.
English

@twoblackcatsx Excellent work, this will make it so much easier to keep tabs on what's eating up the cartridge space.
English

@Developer_n0 No game-engine. I was trying to build it using C++ and DirectX.

@nanka_8bit Try listening to this, I feel like this might be close to the sound you need.

@matthughson The life of bug testing feels endless. Just when you think you got it covered, a billion more bugs are crawling in ways you didn't think were possible.
English

It's pretty mind-boggling (and a little terrifying) that even after nearly 3 years of playing this game everyday, Beta Testers are still finding significant bugs in Super Sunny World (my upcoming NES game).
In this case, firing the zapper while entering a "pipe"... #nesdev

@Nintendeal $20 for a physical release. If ni no kuni can be that and still be a stellar game. Then $20 for a pair of roms should be the bare minimum physically.
