I've signed a reasoned amendment, backed by 138 disabled people's organisations, to reject disability benefit cuts. By failing to consult, the government excluded the voices of disabled people. When organisations representing disabled people are speaking out, we must listen.

We’re asking all MPs to vote against the UCPIP Bill today. The government’s own impact assessment says the cuts will plunge 150,000 people into poverty by the end of this Parliament. This is likely an underestimate and says nothing of the people already in poverty who will sink into even greater hardship. MPs must protect their disabled constituents and vote against this Bill today.

I'm just going into the House of Commons chamber to speak against and then to vote against the Disability Cuts Bill.

I just asked the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to name a single disabled people’s organisation that supports the Government’s “reforms”. She couldn’t name one. The Government should scrap this awful Bill, but if it doesn’t I will vote against it.
