This is a really interesting observation. It's easy to mistake effortful thought for critical thought. Spending a lot of time thinking without considering if you might be wrong is counterproductive b/c it *feels* like you're putting in effort to seek the truth but simply aren't

@jasonintrator Forget offensiveness. The problem is that a prof is spreading disinformation. He is undermining education rather than providing it, and adding a facade of legitimacy to delusion. Also, his writing contains frequent comma splices. Cancel.

“Things were bad for me, so they should stay bad for everyone else” is not a good argument against debt cancellation - student, medical, or otherwise. #CancelStudentDebt

The people in debt will love this, of course, but what about the millions of students & their parents/grandparents who worked extra jobs, scrimped & saved to cover tuition/R&B costs (I am one)? Tough luck? Life isn't fair? Bad precedent to set I think.
Elizabeth Warren@SenWarren

1. Biden-Harris can cancel billions of dollars in student loan debt, giving tens of millions of Americans an immediate financial boost and helping to close the racial wealth gap. This is the single most effective executive action available for a massive economic stimulus.

Conservatives value personal stories more than liberals do when evaluating scientific evidence theconversation.com/conservatives-… I think *psychological* conservatism of this sort can probably be found across party lines, but psychological liberalism only on one side and only a subset.

This is not a subtweet of anyone in particular and it's going to annoy some people since I have a lot of PhD followers/friends and also I'm a stubborn guy myself but...one thing I'm noticed is that once someone gets a PhD, it become 10x harder to convince them they're wrong.

Vote for science and civilization. Both are under direct existential threat from the worst primate instinct: epistemic authoritarianism.
