A federal judge just ruled that videos of DOGE staffers must stay up — and they are devastating. Under oath, they couldn't define DEI. They admitted they never reduced the deficit. And they wiped out $100 million in humanities grants — including a Holocaust documentary — using ChatGPT. The regime tried to bury this. It didn't work. dworkinsubstack.com/p/shut-it-down…

@Artemisapphire I know economics isn't my subject, but it does baffle me that we have the triple lock for the wealthiest generation... Why aren't state pensions means tested like many other benefits?

National Insurance is used to pay pensions now It is not put in a pot "for you" when you get older Deeper irony when you consider that retired people are now statistically wealthier than the younger people PAYING for their elders pensions
Jen k 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿@Jenny_1884

People who have paid into the state pension all their working lives should receive a substantially higher amount to those that have never contributed. Who else thinks this is only fair?

I wasn’t able to take part in #BBCQT from Clacton tonight, as we were told MPs are not allowed to appear on the show in their own constituencies. I’m sure I’ll be back on before too long!

@FennellJW @Ho88sy It's more different commitments in various locations. The LUSVs look awesome, but we're still limited by crewed hull numbers

@ExTweeto @Ho88sy No - but if each ship has two LUSV arsenal ships and is transformed into a flotilla that can defend a much larger sea area we are much better set.

@FennellJW @Ho88sy That would be amazing, but with escort numbers at record lows, is 6, even with 4 fully available, sufficient?

@Ho88sy @ExTweeto We are only 2/3 through the upgrade process, the plan is to have 4 out of 6 operational at any one time by 2027, which is better than most navies achieve.

A chaotic explanation about what happened to my previous X account. It might help explain a few things. More likely, like everything in X, it will probably make no sense at all. If nothing else, there is a lovely horse eating carrots. #horses #socialmedia

Instead of fighting over a 21-mile-wide bottleneck forever, we cut a new channel through friendly territory. A dozen thermonuclear detonations and you’ve got a waterway wider than the Panama Canal, deeper than the Suez, and safe from Iranian attacks. chinatalk.media/p/its-time

In other words, the US hasn’t properly planned or resourced the contingency of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz, so after a year of insults and tariffs, he’s demanding we send our armed forces into harm’s way to bail him out. What else haven’t they properly planned in this war?

Former Army JAG here. No quarter orders are a violation of the law of war and Geneva conventions. This is the same order reportedly given during the Caribbean boat strikes. @SecWar is establishing a pattern of issuing illegal orders. I’ve trained hundreds of soldiers on the law of war — our service members have an obligation to follow that law.

Hegseth: No quarter, no mercy for our enemies. Yet some in the press just can't stop. More fake news from CNN reports that the Trump administration underestimated the Iran war's impact on the strait of hormuz. The sooner David Ellison takes over that network, the better.

This comes up a lot I have to reiterate so many times Do NOT use chat LLMs as research substitutes. They are data modelling algorithms, they are not researching for you If you need data or references, use Google search or a search engine AI Then check all the cited references

Me: "Give me a couple of quotations from early church fathers about the doctrine of hell...with reference." ChatGPT: "Here's a quote from Ignatius." Gives quote and reference. Me: Checks reference. It's not there. "That isn't the right reference." ChatGPT: "Oh you're right. My mistake. Here's the correct reference." Me: Checks reference. "It's not there either." ChatGPT: "Good catch. It's actually not in that writing at all. It's actually here." Gives third reference. Me: Checks third reference. "It's not there. This is a direct quote?" ChatGPT: "Yes. I understand your frustration." (Psychoanalyzes me as being frustrated and because o that, I am now frustrated.) Me: Wastes an hour of my life trying to find the quote because it was really good. "I can't find that quote anywhere. You're sure it's an actual direct quote from Ignatius?" ChatGPT: "Good catch. My mistake. That is not an Ignatius quote." Me: "Who said it?" ChatGPT: "Actually, that quote is not found in any of the church fathers." Me: "Where did it come from?" ChatGPT: "I was summarizing the popular understanding of Ignatius on the doctrine of hell. If you would like me to be more precise in the future, just say things like "facts only." Me: "Why do you just say stuff that is not based in fact?" ChatGPT: "I don't intentionally make things up, but I can generate statements that sound confident even when they're not fully correct, oversimplified, or based on incomplete information." I am persuaded that ChatGPT is programmed to be a pathological liar and when you confront that, it is programmed to gaslight you. Prove me wrong.

Except we know where the copper went... It's in the ground. Thousands of items. Everything from spearheads 23" long to tiny awls for hide working. Scattered across the Midwest, the northern Great Plains, and eastern North America. A sneak peek of a new map I'm working on for a Keweenaw Peninsula tourism board. There's still a lot more work that needs to go into it. Hey, @Maptysk, @Maqitzara, @MoundLore, @DanDavisWrites, you might be interested in this one. Lots of copper tools here. They used a lot of stone, too, but that'll be a separate map. A North American Chalcolithic.

The Keweenaw region in Upper Michigan has some of the highest quality copper in the world, being 95-98% pure. There is evidence of hundreds of ancient mines that date between 4,000 - 10,000 BC and that hundreds of tons of copper was removed. But, we have no clear idea what happened to all of it 👀 As someone who grew up there, I can confirm that there are ancient mines scattered all over, and that local tribes like the Obijwa tell stories that those mines were there when they arrived. If you like ancient mysteries that are a little more niche, this is one worth looking into. This is the kind of stuff that gets my worldbuilding wheels turning.

Rupert Lowe lingo bingo: "Migrants" Everyone take a drink: 🥃 I'm gonna need a bigger bottle at this rate
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10

A Restore Britain Government would not spend billions bombing Iran. Instead, we would deport millions. It’s a choice, and it’s one we would make. There is a list of priorities that any administration has, and the removal of millions of foreigners who reside in our country illegally would be at the very top of the Restore Britain agenda. The entire power of the British state would be deployed, starting on day one, to deport these individuals. Not just those arriving, not just those in hotels, but all of them. Anyone here illegally, goes - a list that would dramatically expand as those here legally are expected to integrate, contribute, work and respect our way of life. If not, they too will leave. This is our flagship policy - everything else is secondary. So I will make you a promise. If the British people elect Restore Britain, we will use every tool at our disposal to remove the illegal migrant population in our country. That will mean changing the law to do so in the rapid manner the British people rightly expect - so we will change the law. This is not complicated. Governments can just do things. We will just do things. We have the plan. A 100+ page deportation policy document, the most comprehensive ever released in Britain. Give us the power to implement it. We won’t be unnecessarily cruel, and we certainly won’t separate families - they will be deported together. The operation will be ruthlessly efficient. I’m hopeful that if we can gather enough momentum before the election, the process will begin before a vote is cast. We will be very open and transparent about our plans for Government. Everybody will know what they are getting with a Restore Britain Government. Hopefully, many will leave in anticipation of that. Reform and the Tories want to bomb Iran - that’s their choice. It’s not one I agree with. Restore Britain won’t bomb. Restore Britain will deport.
