Thread describing the results of this morning's poll on the NJ governor's race. Murphy has a big - but not insurmountable - lead, Ciattarelli is still largely unknown, and polling no better than a generic Republican.

Lots of interesting things going on in the new @FDUPoll of the governor's race. To start with, Ciattarelli is still mostly unknown to NJ voters: 70% of registered voters say that they don't have an opinion of him.

Another point to note: the new @FDUPoll number is only registered voters, which is the number that really matters. The previous polls, showing @GovMurphy north of 55 percent, reflected even non-voters. If @Jack4NJ can up his name recognition, I think he has a significant chance.

Although this poll has @GovMurphy ‘s approval only “slightly lower” than two previous polls, the trajectory is more ominous for him. I would not want to be the one whose polls drop each time, even if it’s only “slightly.”

According to the poll, Murphy has a 50% approval rating in the state, slightly lower than two previous polls from Monmouth and Rutgers-Eagleton, which had him at 57% and 55% respectively. 50% also said the state is "on the right track."
