Congratulations, @GovSherrillNJ! This is a truly historic and joyous day for New Jersey. Mikie has done it all. Like a true Naval aviator, she has navigated the chaos of Congress with grit and grace. She has devoted her life to serving our country.  And with her and Dale, New Jersey is in extraordinarily capable hands. This job is not easy, but it is the journey of a lifetime. Because to lead our state is to love it.

It has been an extraordinary run. As I leave the State House for the last time as Governor, I am proud to say we are leaving our children a state that is  better than we found it. A New Jersey that is stronger, fairer, and more responsible. To each and every New Jerseyan: It has been the highest honor of my life to serve as your Governor. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Never forget: We’re from Jersey, baby!!

There are no words to express how proud I am of all that we have accomplished together. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as First Lady of our great state. Thank you, New Jersey!

Serving as Secretary of State and then Lieutenant Governor over the past eight years has been the honor of a lifetime.

To the people of New Jersey: Thank you for entrusting me with the sacred responsibility of serving our state for eight years.   From day one, we were who we said we’d be — and we did what we said we’d do.   It is because of everything we have achieved together that New Jersey is stronger and fairer than ever before.

Today, we honor the immeasurable impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s lifelong commitment to equality and economic justice.   We’ve worked tirelessly to uphold Dr. King’s legacy and promote his vision for America by raising the minimum wage, expanding voting rights, and enacting criminal justice reform.

To my incredible wife, Tammy, and our wonderful children, Josh, Emma, Charlie, and Sam, your support means the world to me. From the bottom of my heart: thank you.

Since Day One, I’ve been laser-focused on making health care more affordable and accessible. From eliminating over $1 billion in medical debt to lowering prescription drug costs, we’ve made it easier for New Jersey families to get the care they need.

The law also requires health insurers and health benefit plans to provide coverage for immunizations recommended by the @NJDeptofHealth — without any cost-sharing. At a time of increasing public distrust and misinformation, we are determined to bolster confidence in vaccinations and keep New Jerseyans safe and healthy.

We have seen RFK, Jr. and the Trump Administration do everything in their power to undermine trust in vaccines and health professionals. Today, I signed legislation ensuring vaccination and immunization guidance is state-based. Instead of mirroring increasingly unreliable federal vaccine guidance, we will instead look to professional health care bodies such as the @AmerAcadPeds, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American College of Physicians to develop our own recommendations.

Today, I signed bipartisan legislation to strengthen oversight for providers that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These measures give @NJGov more authority to hold group home providers accountable and uphold high standards of care.

As heavy snowfall continues across the state, we urge you to avoid driving if possible. If you must drive, please do so slowly and safely.

For three consecutive years, New Jersey has recorded the fewest number of shooting victims since statewide tracking began in 2009. From strengthening background checks to banning ghost guns, our Administration has taken action to protect communities and save lives.

Too many families have already experienced the unimaginable heartbreak of losing a child to the opioid epidemic.   Thank you to Patrice Lenowitz of Woodcliff Lake for her tireless advocacy of this measure in honor of her son Max, who tragically died of a fentanyl overdose in 2022.

This morning, I signed bipartisan legislation requiring New Jersey school districts to educate students about the dangers of opioids in grades 6-12. Clear, honest information saves lives by helping students recognize risks and avoid bad choices. Talking to our kids about the dangers of opioids must be a cornerstone of our response to this crisis. nj.gov/governor/news/…
